Good morning to every Nairalander, this midweek. I have often found myself wondering if it will not be wonderful to have some sort of recognition for the activities of people here on Nairaland. Undoubtedly, there are great people here; people who have high intellectual sagacity, unbridled spirit of kindness and love, progressive minded, innovative as well as those with insatiable desire to lift others through their words and deeds on this platform. Is it possible to recognise individuals by bestowing some sort of badges on people's profiles as a way of recognition; a sort of positive profiling?

What am I trying to say? On this forum people's comment are liked a thousand times, for example. When your post is liked, it means you have made a positive contribution to an ongoing social discourse. It could be that you have provided a solution to burdensome anxiety of a fellow Nairalander, etc. In my view, the MODs should consider setting a benchmark for an award of a badge. The badges could be graduated in weight such that you can have the lightweight, the middleweight and the heavyweight badges of recognition.

Fo instance, someone who gathers 5 thousand likes could be given a lightweight badge of recognition for his contributions on the platform; for the middlewight, you could fix, say 10 or 15 thousand likes and so on and so forth. This badges carry respect and the awardees will always bring the best of themselves whenever they are out to comment as they are already known for their uniquenness in one aspect or the other. Above all, it will enthrone a sort of positivity on people's activities here.

Nairaland is not such a sophisticated forum and we should appreciate it the way it is, you need to know that this forum is built using a forum generating software and all the feature is not entirely on nairaland management to update as they wished.

I think nairaland is running on an open source forum platform and the fact nairaland been on since 2005 or so shows it is one of the earlier forum.

From the look of things nairaland is not tech motivated as people like lala, mind 44 and even the founder himself are more of socialites, political pundits and just people with fanaticism with snakes and stamping down secessionist.

To have such badges will impact nairaland database and may not be so simple, the easiest thing you get is individual badges, someone like Nwaamaikpe has the badge of official over intelligence people that eventually got their head compromised with beautiful trash, someone like Futa Jalon Blood is a fulani supremo, someone like the grill seller, Helinues, the dam niga fellow and all of that had earned themselves some place.

Anything technical Seun will commot his hand, apart from changing font, seun will not do anything more advanced, nairaland is just like Nigeria no upgrade, no improvement but people are increasing despite the glaring venom and hate, no one truly wanna leave, every day people talk how nairaland is bad, and how it is Tribalitic and how it is against his tribe and all of that.

But the next one minute you'd see the other person that just complained on political session DM ing the crush on romance section or laughing at IPOB becuase of Kanu, next one minute you will see the IPOB guy happy becuase of Kyari next two minutes you will see both IPOB and Aboki happy becuase of Igboho.

That's how nairaland is, we are unique we love it we are Nigerians

The intimidating records are there. 80% accurate on analysis and suggestions. Both local and foreign events except football.
