Mkenya2019:These statements about your SGR and the competition was from one of your top financial journalist, he wrote in The Standard: “the way a second-born child would do, lurking in the shadows and learning from the mistakes of his elder brother, then retreating to plot how to do a better job when his turn came.”. It now clear that your SGR may never break even, Tanzania, Ethiopian and the Ugandans won't allow the system to function at the loss of their own systems, your sgr would have make sense if these guys are not doing same. Uhuru is just using these projects(SGR and Nairobi express way) to score some political points and nothing more, we all know that the over hyped Nairobi Express way is not Sustainable . |

SGR has been debated to death. It doing very well in almost all parameters. Mombasa port - saw 10 increase in first Q=The Port of Mombasa handled 9.54 million tons in the first quarter of the year 2021 compared to 8.62 million tons in a similar period last year recording 10.7 percent growth rate Btw Nairobi Expressway is being built by China as toll road - kenya gov spents 150m to compensations and relocating utilities - otherwise Chinese gifted it to us - well they will collect toll for 30yrs. 68816419: |

Mkenya2019:Firstly, your SGR is not going well, reason been that, the cost of running the services is far higher than the profits generated from it and this trend is worsening, also, the frieght system is way to expensive for most cargo handlers and they now prefer using the road system as the road is far cheaper, secondly, I personally think that overpriced express is a misplaced priority, the funds ("gift" should have been used to build the inner roads in "Nairobi metropolitan". |

Abohboy:No. But in some sections, it's quite inevitable considering the vastness of the highway. Pic one and two is the state of 80% of Nairobi expressway, the road passes in between the two existing highways. Pic 3 and four is a flyover.

1) Before SGR - Mombasa port cargo dwells time was 5.6 days - 2nd only to Durban (3 days). Now it reduced by a day to around 4.6 days. Nigeria used to be 25-30 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - currently 21 days. In developed world ports - it a day - a ship arrives - offload and is gone within that day. A ship takes a month in Nigeria to offload. Once we connect the old MGR with SGR this year - I expect to dwell time to reach the Durban level of 3 days - ship arrives - it offloads import - load exports - and is gone in 3 days - or even 1-2 days that most efficient ports do. 2) SGR has transported more than 5M passengers to Mombasa - without any incident - in less time and the same cost as buses. Everyone likes it. Tourists love it as it been voted most magnificent train ride with ability to see wild animals - we paid a fortune to have bridges some 28kms long to allow wildlife to pass under 3) SGR is no longer forced - out 35M cargo - Truckers have 30M - more cargo than they ever had. SGR is barely scratching the surface 4) As for break even. 2017 when it began the cost of running the trains was 7.5B kshs against revenues of 1B. In 2018 it was 14B against 5.5B. In 2019 18B against 13.5B. In 2020 - it was 7.5b against 5.5b - half-year amidst covid-19 - as you can see the break-even point is approaching. Break-even is when cost of running rail and the revenues are the same. This very difficult for railways to achieve. Profit is when revenues exceed the running cost...and it can start to pay for itself. 5) Toll road - that is China money - not your money - you cannot tell them where to invest. Next the French are willing to put down 1.5B to build us 230km expressway. The Americans were willing to do 3B to Mombasa. 68816419: |

Shma2020:This is counted as a flyover in Nigeria and is structued the same way as yours is an elevated road above another road i'm guessing the difference is whether or not it's part of an overall highway system like N3 in South Africa or M25 in England or is it how many lanes it has?

| Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by Mkenya2019: 9:47pm On Aug 07, 2021 |
Flyover versus elevated expressway. Kenya has 2km fly over . You cannot find in South Africa an elevated expressway. Try Asia. Tokyo, Manila, Jakarta and China of course. Abohboy: |

Mkenya2019:Still haven't explained what puts them apart, i've just shown you a flyover structured the same as yours is it about lanes used or being connected to a highway system? |

Your undeveloped brain can only comprehend pictures. 1) Nairobi Outering - 2Km flyover https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pDXYrDi55c 2) Nairobi Expressway - elevated expressway https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8H2mz5bLB8w&t=43s 3) Nairobi Viaduct - under construction. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWrBabq6vlc Abohboy: |

You're talking about the bridge right in Lagos. Yeah it's elevated over fish or water . Maybe one day we will figure out how to build a road to float on water. Well Mombasa has the floating bridge ![]() theenchanter: |

You insult our intelligence; we give you enough pointers; to get your googling. Only Nigeria take pride in their ignorance. Just coz you dont yet have an elevated expressway - doesn't mean it doesn't exist or is a flyover. Abohboy: |

Abohboy:Is it so hard to distinguish btwn a viaduct and flyover? Or you just want to argue for argument sake? Go to Asian countries or Europe or America and google their best expressway. You'll notice they ain't that far from what is being built in Kenya going by quality. And no African country has it. This is a flyover in Kenya.

| Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by Mkenya2019: 10:16pm On Aug 07, 2021 |
Okay, let us say partially elevated for an 11km with total lenght of 28 expressway happy now. Bad news for you - there is nothing like that in Africa. Lagos main bridge is a bridge over water. There is no road below it.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6a8PVXJ_qfk&t=222s theenchanter: |

Mkenya2019:But when it gets to Marina it continues as an elevated expressway as you guys like to say above a smaller road and then it goes onto Victoria Island |

South Africa and Nigeria education are about the same - Nigeria is a bit worse. South Africa is Ghana level. Unless you went to international school or white school. But South Africa public black school...no difference with rest of Africa. They take teachers from rest of Africa. The developed world can take Africa nurses NEVER a teacher. Average teacher in Europe has a master - be they in grade o or grade 12. South Africa will not become a developed world precisely for that reason - EDUCATION is sub-sahara standards - you cannot move to next level with that kind of brains. Middle class yes. Abohboy: |

you want it to abruptly stop at the land border..the same way an elevated expressway has ground level to start and end it... a bridge will also descend slowly. Please use your brain Abohboy: |
