Danjikanbauchi:America has so much land. And also their agricultural output is gigantic. And most of it are from huge lands in their south. America is a major exporter of corn, wheat, beef, barley, sorghum, e.t.c China gets most of their grains from the US. Bad comparison. |

Capitalism, let the man make his money in peace abeg, as long as he’s doing it legally and responsibly, he should be applauded. We need more people like him in this country. |

mrvitalis:vertical farming ko horizontal farming ni, you will see diagonal even curve farming soon. is it about farming alone? the green forest represents so many things beyond farming. it is a very strong support for life, nature, wild life. the forest gives us woods, soon we will start importing wood from beyond the shores or would we still green house a massive forest? even you want to green house at the you need a land yet all is built up with no space. |

muller101:Do you know soilless farming ? That is what is practiced in Ogun state in most new generation farms. It does not consume much land and the rate of food production is faster compared to soil farming. You can produce Yam without digging the soil. My brother we are already there. We cannot always be the last. Try to be the first also. |

igboland is over forested, no amount of forest clearing can lead to environmental issues |

You made your point The reality is. Nigeria is a country with laws, rule and ethics So everyone does his or her own things, they own ways, including the corrupt people in Government CSTRR: |

goatandyam: You are wise. Obi did not think deep enough before making that comment. I also have the same thoughts as yours on this. Destroying forests would increase global warming and reduce oxygen and increase carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Trees produce the oxygen we breath into our bodies and those same forest trees remove carbon dioxide. Without trees, we would all be dead! I get pissed off when I see some of these lame and criminal charcoal export seminar ads. They should be banned outright to protect the trees and then renewable energy for cooking must be promoted. |

Ogbuefi2020:If there is no regulation, you would quickly move from rainforest to deforestation in the twinkle of an eye. Man's greed is insatiable. It's govt that should rein it in. |

wickyyolo:I like your reference to Netherlands since I too have gathered a lot of data on that country right from the 1990s. Climate change is the main concern for mankind here... More important than the vertical farming or even aquaponics. Deforestation depletes the air of oxygen which mankind seriously needs to survive. Global warming has led to damaging rainfall and rise in sea levels. Lagos and other cities on the coastlines and even riverine areas are predicted to get submerged completely if nothing is done to reverse the trend. We have to be alive first to use vertical farming and green houses, etc. Vertical houses and apartments should be emphasised over detached houses that occupy a lot of precious land spaces. |

wickyyolo:That's hydroponics bro. See, those systems isn't sustainable for a country like Nigeria yet. Consider the population first and how many people can really have what it's takes to practice such system. And I guess yam is #50 per tuber in ogun state. ![]() |

wickyyolo:Its not about that bro. I am in agriculture I know what I am saying. How viable is hydroponics to Nigerian economy. You can't go large scale on it and make profits to sustain the business taking into consideration the Nigerian economy. |
