Trust me this year - both Equity and KCB - have overtaken Access and GTB

Zenith is the last Nigerian Bank as kenya banks grow super-fast.

If we required our bank capital to be so high - forcing them to merge into large banks - it can be done one afternoon - but the problem is we will kill innovation and vertical markets.

Look at Equity Bank - coming from building society (SACCO) - getting a license and being ranked 66th out of 66 - and rising to become East and Central Africa's largest bank with total assets at 10B dollars.

They are many such banks in Kenya - starting from employees forming SACCO - and eventually converting into a bank - and growing.

Look at this bank - Family Bank - now 92 branches - few years ago it was a SACCO. It was issused a banking license in 2007 and it's total assets now approaching 1B dollars.
