If you want to stop bbn, then go after the companies that sponsor the show, put them on blast, boycott them, their products and services. If the money dries up, bbn will die.

BBN which is supposedly a 'porn monster ' runs for a couple of months once a year but no one talks about the massive amount of 'immortality' that teenagers and youths are constantly exposed to on the internet, in music vidoes , movies both local and foreign...
Bottom line ; banning BBN wouldn't have much of an influence on the 'morality' of the youths. Contents that stain the 'morality' of Nigerian youths is way more rampant and pervasive than BBN

So why ban it when it will barely have any influence on the supposed morality of the youths and the show gets a massive amount of viewership which means there's plenty of money to be made

By this logic all political parties currently in existence should be banned since all they teach is looting.

BBN is not Nigeria problem. As a matter of fact you can easily block the channel if you feel it is against your faith. No one or group has the right to dictate what other watch.
Hypocrites too much for Nigeria.

I'm going to say the same thing I said when the MURIC boss said that they should ban the programme

I agree with Ohaneze Youth. And yes, the programme is immoral, and yes it does promote pornography. People have been critical of the show for ages.

But this is not the era of my childhood, when we had just one channel. And as far as I know, there is no law on the books saying that we must watch Big Brother, or we get sentenced to jail for 5 years with hard labor.

On DSTV, there are nearly 200 channels, or more depending on your bouquet. Also, not all the DSTV bouquets carry BB...only Premium and compact plus do. That means , out of the 6 million Nigerians with access to pay tv, of which half are DSTV subscribers, a tiny minority are BB watchers. Most of them don't watch BB all the time, and most of them don't even like the show.

As for me, I never liked BB, since I heard of the concept in the early 2000's. I did not even pay attention to the first BB in Africa (the one that included Bayo , for those who remember), and have not paid attention since. When I got a DSTV subscription, I never watched it, always changed the channel.

The truth is, if you don't want to watch immoral filth, change the channel. DSTV has plenty of decent and sensible programming you can watch. No need to ban BB. And there is always Startimes, and other pay tv providers that don't carry BB, and there is the internet, where you can find sane videos without the porn.

So, just change the channel, and move on. Let the filthy jokers watch the filth.

Very true...though the internet can be (to some extent) controlled for teenagers under parent's roof, as can television.

Any teenager watching BB...under his parent's roof either has very permissive parents, or the parents are not doing their job...or they lying.

There are about 6 million pay tv subscribers in Nigeria, of whom the slight majority are DSTV subscribers. Most of them probably don't subscribe to the premium or compact plus bouquet., and most don't watch BB

Plus, people have always used TV as a distraction anyways.

OrdinaryNigeria:
Supported

One is not forced to watch BBN, even with this it shud be scrapped.

Dstv can as well put pornography channels and one wil not be force to watch.

Or include in the most expensive package and save children of the poor with poor control.

Wat do I gain watching someone talking and bathing, then sleeping

For kids living under their parent's roof, there is the parental control button...

SOME PROBLEMS THE NIGERIAN YOUTH CURRENTLY FACE
Unemployment
Poverty
Business startup capital
Bad governance
Lack of good healthcare
Drugs/ alcohol abuse
Insecurity

For Ohaneze to even think of bringing up BBN amongst the plethora of issues staring us in the face just reeks of ignorance and insensitivity.

BBN is Rated 18, clearly for mature audiences and can be coded on request by multichoice.. there is no obligation to watch the show in any way , shape or form

To be honest, the average Nigerain has low moral standards.... Bribery, looting, corruption etc are the bane of society and a norm in modern Nigeria. the youth have 99 problems and BBN ain't one.

To be sincere, this is not even part of our problems under the Buhari administration...

I think this is a misfired priority

Whether BBN or not there would be rooms for moral decay in the society orchestrated by this same set of moral soldiers.

I can't spend time watching bbn for hours, few clips here and there, articles are enough. That does not make the show irrelevant.

You are worried that your child/children spends hours watching it or even watching it, sorry bro don't blame bbn you didn't raise ya child well, not enough reasons to cancel the show.

Ever since it came to my senses that sitting in front of tv to watch bbn or waking up to monitor people's lives on tv is stupid I stopped. I developed very low interest in the program but let people who has the time to watch do it in peace.

We have insecurity
ASUU threatening to go on strike again
Bad governance
Bihari etc

Pick one instead and stop being a hypocrite.

So you want the FG to place a ban on the show so you and other people will start calling it Islamization agenda. BBN is not by force to watch.

Nwachi22:

FG will never ban BB naija. They use it to distract a lot of Nigerian youths.

They are right to some considerable extent... But at this point in naija some people need a show like this to ease themselves of the pains and frustration Bubu has brought on us.
Even if I was asked to bet my my life in 2014 that 1dollar will equal to 520naira naso I for bet am die o.. Buhari no try.. Life hard for naija..ppl dey suffer

FTC for the first time after 3years on nairaland.

You dey suffer yet you get smart phone and data.
You can also buy minimum of gotv with premium subscription to watch bbnaija. And you say you are suffering.
I think your problem is the inability to prioritise your spending. Go and learn how to manage funds.

In as much I detest watching it, not primarily for immorality but practically nothing on earth to showcase for it.

I think BBN shouldn't ban, we operate a free state and it has been viewing under stipulated constitution, so they have their own right as well, economy must be liberalise to generate revenue as VAT for state and economy.

One cannot against hisbah of destroying beers and now supporting BBN should ban, I think that's height of hypocrisy.

What's different btw you and hisbah
