Even if the US had stayed in Afghanistan for a hundred years, the Taliban would still come back to power because the people of Afghanistan are the actual Taliban.

Rural Afghans are the Taliban themselves. The US obviously cannot kill everyone. More people join Taliban by the day. Imagine, all the current fighters were either kids or hadn't been born when the country was invaded. It's not as if the US is weak, they just can't remain there.
