Anambra Set To Become Oil Producing State As ASATU Hails Governor Obiano On Airport Project

Leaders of Anambra State Association of Town Unions, ASATU, Women Wing have commended the government of the state for thinking and working the vision of a befitting airport for the state.

The women leaders gave the commendation when they joined Governor Willie Obiano for his weekly inspection visit to the airport.

Installation of gadgets for the control tower as well as the terminal building is almost ready, while Aviation lights installation for the runway is almost complete.

The fire house building is already standing, as installation of equipments have commenced, among other improvements.

Speaking at Aguleri shortly after the airport inspection visit, Governor Obiano who announced that the federal government has given eleven oil Wells to Anambra State, stressed that by next month, Anambra will be Named an oil producing state.

The governor continued that his administration has being pursuing the status for a very long time and appreciated God for making it a reality under his watch.

Among those who accompanied the Governor on the inspection were the member representing Anambra East and West Federal Constituency, Chief Chinedu Obidigwe, Chief of Staff Staff to the governor, Mr Primus Odili, Commissioner for Works, Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor, among others.

Has the luggage carousel been installed yet? What of the lifts, escalators and the Avio-bridges? How's the car park coming along?

Has the luggage carousel been installed yet? What of the lifts, escalators and the Avio-bridges? How's the car park coming along?

Truly, all they need now is FURNITURE (i.e: Passenger chairs, airlines check-in desks & security screening check gates) to begin functioning at least with local daytime flights to & from Lagos and Abuja. People can walk on the tarmac to board the plane as it is done in Asaba, PH, Enugu or Owerri airports. Until the avio bridges are installed and put to use.

The carousel, avio bridges, escalators Control tower gadgets, and ILS/ runway approach lighting can continue to be installed while the airport is operational for daytime local flights. The idea that everything needed for international flights must be installed now before they even begin local flights will be ludicrous. No airport is ever "completed" as improvement/expansion/upgrading projects are continuous events in airports that are even 100 years old.

Till date, even JFK intl. airport or Los Angeles Intl. airport still have some type of ongoing upgrade work while the airports are operating.

Where are these 11 oil wells located? - Ogbaru or Anambra East/West?. Whao, If these wells are producing optimally, Anambra can be producing up to 60,000bpd. On the other hand, it can be as low as 5,000bpd

my problem with our Igbos Leadership is that they are not serious when fighting for what belongs to us, the governor suppose to give us details of the oil wells, it locations and oil companies involved in the oil explorations

Please he should list all the wells I hope the ones kogi and enugu is championing is sedded to us....

Would be nice to know the production capacity of the wells!

The Obiano gov’t should also push for proceeds from these wells, that have gone to other states or the federal gov’t, to be paid back to Anambra state!

Th way some people insult themselves here make me laugh sometimes, I wonder how old some of us are.

I think the state government need to ask for supplemental budget to help him finish this project on time, before election starts and he will not have time again due to distractions.
