"However, Mrs Adefisayo said, the state government will continue to subsidize the boarding fees to improve the quality of education and the purpose of the establishment of Model Colleges and Upgraded Schools." Have they been subsidizing the fees that we have been paying before now? Why did she not talk about all the MANY materials that we have to present to the school? Lanrelagboi: |

No parent agreed to this #50,000 feeding feeding fee of boarding students of Lagos state model college. The question is, has Lagos state government ever subsidize the #25,000 feeding fee before, NO. Why now is the government interested in subsidizing and increase the feeding fee to #125, 000 per child claiming to subsidize #50, 000 per child per child asking parents to pay #75, 000. Later the commissioner and the Permanent Secretary of Education said it has been reduced to #50, 000 per child. This means that Lagos State Government will subsidize #75, 000 per child. This shows that all officials of the state government in relations to the increase have fraudulent motive behind the increase which is not justifiable even with their claim that the #25, 000 was increased some years ago. The present #25, 000 paid by each students had long been mismanaged, full of fraudulent and unaccounted expenses. Their is need for audit of the money. #25, 000 per students × 1000 students will give you #25 Million naira. The Principals in each schools are the only Administrators and signatory to the account and spend it at their mercy. it should also be noted that each student on resumption per term takes to school some items called hostel requirements. These hostel requirements on it own is another fraudulent pipe. A student take to school 2 Dettol, 2 Izal, 2 Can Airfresher, 2 Block Airfresher, 2 Big size Harpic, 1 1kg Specific product of detergent, Cutlass, Rake, Stick broom, 1 pack of tissue paper and host of other. when you calculate and multiply these items by 1000 students you discovered there are fraud in this area too. 2000 pcs of Dettol, 2000 pcs of Izal, 2000 pcs of Can Airfresher, 2000 pcs of Block Airfresher and so on. These items are collected from students for just 70 days . All these items are shared among the officials that are calling for feeding fee increase. The reason they call for increase is due to the fact that they can not get their usual cut in the feeding fee and they want to maintain the cut and kick back even at increase rate. The Honorable Commissioner for Education is OWNER OF A PRIVATE SCHOOL so also others calling for the increase. Their children school in expensive schools and abroad with our money. They don't have human feelings and sympathy. The minimum wage is #30, 000 and you expected a parent on #30, 000 salary with 3 children at model college to pay #50, 000 × 3 = #150, 000 plus other personal expenses and house rent without engaging in stealing or fraudulent act to cover up for such outrageous expenses. The coalition of Parent Forum Chairman and executives Lagos State Model College has magnanimous present parents unanimous decission of an upward review to #30, 000 which is all inclusive of hostel requirements and anxilliaries per studentt. Te body also requested the inclusion of parent who are professional in kitchen management in the school kitchen affairs as the principals are teachers and not kitchen professionals. The Coalitions of PF of LSMC also demand the inclusion of parent body in the administration of the fee paid by students. This will enable proper needs and accountability. The parents through Coalition of PF excos also call for the thorough AUDIT of the account of all Model Colleges in Lagos state. In conclusion, parents of LSMC did not accept the feeding fee of #50' 000 but #30, 000 as this is stated in the letters sent to the Governor, State House of Assembly, The Commissioner for Education and Permanent Secretary Education. Don't mind them! I attended one of the model colleges in Lagos back in the days. I'm even surprised that the government has not increased the fee since I left. We just have to be realistic. 25k per term is no longer possible. diportivo: |

stevenosa:Guy, if you are realistic and truthful to yourself, govt have certainly been subsidizing the fees. If you think quality boarding feeding can cost N25k per term (3 months) or N79 per meal, then....! Same thing I hear Hostel in Federal universities is still a ridiculously low amount. The issue is not the price of the services, but the poverty of the people. |
