EBONYI STATE MAINTAINS ITS STANCE THAT THERE IS NO LAND FOR RANCHING IN THE STATE

We have received the news making the rounds that Ebonyi State is among the States in the Federation that has received the sum of 6 billion naira each for ranching as attributed to the Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Garba Shehu while responding to questions on Channels Television on Wednesday night and we wish to clarify as follows:

That Ebonyi State Government never at any time received any money for ranching in the State and will not receive any money for the same purpose as there is no available land for ranching in the state.

That should any Ebonyian opt to engage in personal ranching, Ebonyians should see such venture as a personal decision of such person who must use his/her land for the purpose.

This is because Ebonyi State Government has continued to maintain that there is no land for ranching in the state and it is not about reneging from the decision.

Kudos to Umahi. A good leader must know where to draw the line between politics and protecting the overall interest of the people. southern governors must stand firm against open grazing and the criminality of herdsmen.

While we should all support ranching, it should be a personal business and even when government wants to provide land and funds for the business, the indigenous people of the community should be the beneficiaries and not herders from another region.

Northern states should support herders from the north to ranch in the north while southern states should support herders from the south to ranch in the south.

The history of Ebobyi state (particularly the killings and attacks over land ) should make it easier for every sane person to understand that Ebonyi state remains a no go area! There are no lands for RUGA ranching or grazing or any other cow-jihad schemes under the sleeves of sworn terrorists.
Umahi can speak from all sides of his mouth, but at the end of the day he is from Ebonyi state, and understands whats up.
