The golden rule as to whether to pass or not is whether you have the opportunity to get a shot on goal yourself. Mount is clear through on the keeper with his own opportunity to score in the first picture. He has a right to take that shot.

The Havertz one is the second picture is a more clear cut example of poor decision making as Havertz did not have an opportunity of his own and must play in the striker.

Exactly what I taught after seeing the highlight again.

Mount was in a difficult scenario to raise his heads and the first instinct was rightly to aim for the back of the net.

Havertz should be criticized for not releasing a one time pass but Mount who had more time to make a proper decision chose to shoot with his weaker foot from a tight angle instead on cutting a simple pass back for Havertz to score an open net. Never mind that he did the same thing to Havertz last week: choosing to play a very weak shot with his left foot from outside the box.
