What Do You Think Of This Uwazuruike’s Idea To FG On Releasing Kanu? by onumadu(op): 9:00pm On Sep 01, 2021

During his most recent BBC Igbo interview, Mazi Ralph Uwazurike of BIM/MASSOB suggested that Kanu should be released and all charges dropped, on the condition that Kanu should not be allowed to leave Nigeria afterwards.

According to Uwazuruike, Kanu’s international passports should be withheld, and he should stay in Nigeria to continue his agitation, if he wants to continue agitating.

Uwazuruike argued that if Kanu were to stay in Nigeria, he would be more likely to tow a peaceful path afterwards, since he knows that he can be re-arrested if he instigated violence.

For me, I have always believed that a serious political agitator from Nigeria at the levels of Nnamdi Kanu should be based in Nigeria.
It is for their own good.

A lot of people don’t know that Nigeria is the safest place for a Nigerian agitator to base while agitating against Nigeria.

For all our faults, Nigerians still see themselves as brothers somehow, while foreigners don’t.

Just imagine how Kenya chained Kanu to the floor for 8 whole days and tortured him without any feelings and considerations whatsoever. They felt absolutely nothing for him because he is not a Kenyan. Same applies to other countries.

You would also be naive to think that Kenya is the only foreign country involved in Kanu’s ordeal.
Some foreign countries hate Nigerian agitators more than Nigeria can ever hate them, because of what they gain from our collective suffering.

Therefore Uwazuruike’s suggestion may be actually born of love than anything else.

i think he should remain in his country. Not only Kenya, other countries always treat Nigerian crimimals like trash. The hate they have for Nigerians is too much and you all keep running there.

If he can be kidnapped and chained to the floor for 8 whole days in a third world country like Kenya, what use is his duel citizenship?
If I were working for the FG I would advise that Kanu be released ASAP before those foreign countries cause a war in Nigeria.
This is not time for threats and huffing and puffing. It is time to use sense.

Excellent points on Uwazuruike, BUT ...

We need to wonder why Kanu and Igboho were not killed as their followers and people around them.
I don't believe in near-misses and coincidences in such things. grin

Until I see evidence to the contrary, I believe that Nigeria somehow helped Kanu to leave the country in 2017.
I wait to be proven wrong.

My guess is that they are really "untouchable" in the sense that the consequences of such will prove too much for Nigeria to handle.
No matter what some may think, some groups in Nigeria are majority while others are minority.
Kanu and Igboho come from majority ethnic groups in Nigeria.
Kanu has the backing of 60-75 million people, while Igboho also has similar backing. THAT counts for something.
