Exactly my thoughts. You ban your banks from crypto transactions. Within a few months you create your own version. Of crypto and tell the same banks to adopt, promote and distribute it to the populace. My concern now is how will this e-naira exchange with other e- currencies that the banks should not allow or is it going to be a stand alone currency?

Any currency bearing the naira is dommed........ Another fly Nigeria doomed project.......

Don't be surprised that 578,987,000 e-naira = $1.

Keep ur money in crypto. This one has no value to give u.

U better download Binance and buy useful coins there and keep. Some of these coins will give u 200 percent growth under a year.

The summary of what was written here is :-

1) you can open an e wallet either with NIN or your existing bvn linked account
2) you can send e naira from one wallet to another FREE of charge

Emphasis on the second point which is you can send naira from one account to another.

In other words imagine doing bank transfer with no charges, no atm fees, no pos fees nothing like how most countries operate.

This is the summary of what the e naira offers you

This ain’t cryptocurrency neither is it a new currency or a currency backed by naira.

It’s just the CBN telling you from the 1st of Oct 2021 you can now send naira electocnically free or charge

This is just the summary, nothing special.

The number of PoS operators and bank tellers will reduce drastically since there won't be much need for physical cash, even to buy tomatoes in the market the seller will prefer you transfer to his e_Naira account because it attracts no extra charges.
It's practically not different from the existing online banking platforms like Carbon, Kuda and others.

We need a need to know if we can use a it to buy stuffs from online stores in Nigeria and outside Nigeria.
We need to know if we can use it to buy power, pay bills, etc.

If the equivalent of e-naira is the same as naira then all this is just like opening another bank account. If the can wants people to embrace this move they should make 1 enaira equal to 100 naira. Boom every one will rush in
At the start, they can peg it at ₦1=e₦1...
But the market dynamics will make them different, whether they like it or not.
The e₦ will continue to rise very very fast.
That is where it will become very clear that Nigeria now has two Currencies..

If the E-naira is equivalent to the Naira let them forget it.
The only way this will boom is if 1 e naira is 100 naira
The only advantage here is the free transactions apart from that nothing else.

Trust CBN, after everybody has rushed in, you will now hear that they are charging per transaction. Nothing from CBN is free, they are out to make something out of it.

You know I was just thinking the same thing, it is a lovely innovation but it definitely has a lot of negative sides too and I fear it might even contribute more to unemployment. Banks for example...without the physical cash will there be need for all those tellers/cashiers??
There will always be cash guy.

Binance created e naira on their platform, who gave binance the right to create e naira digital currency?

The government e naira project will make binance e naira illegal, this will make binance seek for the official Nigeria e-naira.

As for the e naira project by the Nigerian government, the advantages will be its fast transaction for cross border and local transactions , government will be able to control inflation, know the exact number of naira in circulation and will be able to easily monitor money laundering.

The banks will be the main beneficiary of this project because they are the ones licensed to issue cash to the public

That is the problem. Is it not this same govt that rubbished crypto? How comes they are introducing E-naira 50k -300k max, I believe this plan is not safe. I call it MMM v 2.0

E naira isn't crypto, it is a digital fiat.

Crypto is a store of value secured by encryption.

The transfer limit is 50k and 300k, that is done because of money laundering purposes

Are you saying there are no works of cryptography in digital fiat? Even digital fiats are interchangeable and hosted on a Blockchain, unlike NFTs

There are cryptography in digital fiat but technicality is not what is important but the way they are issued, that is what matters. Digital fiat behaves just like your fiat thus making them not classified as crypto but the advantages is its low cost transaction, less volatility and government being able to manage inflation

The banks will be the main issuer of digital fiat
