I swear, I knew this came from Daily Trust before I opened it! This useless platform does not try to hide their bias. Daily Trust is pro-North and for anyone who is sensitive enough, it shouldn't come as a surprise that this is coming. I even told someone offline yesterday that I expect Daily Trust to berate the new move.

To the news, 30 states can't be affected. It won't be up to 30. However, every Northern state won't be spared.
Bring your statistics, not WAILING!

All of these states would have no problem if they invested in some basic agricultural processing and machinery as well as basic roads that's all they need and they could be raking in tens of billions of naira if not over a 100 billion naira but instead they're there waiting for FAAC allocation my people if una do not wake up and vote in good leaders come 2023 any complaints you have please direct them at yourself for your foolishness there are plenty of good alternative parties to vote for A.A.C, Y.P.P, M.O.P, KOWA, N.C.P etc. Yet we settle for the corrupt and evil APC and PDP year after year as if anything will change.

Even if we are not created equal yet, every state in Nigeria has what it takes to conveniently generate it's needed income but the lazy economy we operate has killed any thoughts of hard work and tapping of resources. With this development may I kindly say that any state that can not generate her needed income with abundance of mineral resources is free to embrace poverty. Monkey no go work make baboon dry chop!

FIRS should just renogotiate with the major states. For example, Lagos State, FCT, Rivers and the rest of the states can keep 50-60% of what she generates, why the rest of the 40% will be shared among the 36 stayed and the FCT equally.

There can be a timeline, It can be till 2030. Between 2021 and 2030, the rest of the states go don dey work hard, towards creating a conducive environment for business to be establish in each State.

This will be a win win situation for the states and FG.
very good idea from you.

Thermodynamics:
States de collect VAT Lagos sef wan still de collect VAT, Lagos when the whole Nigeria de feed. Lagos is a metropolitan city that was built by the entire Country. There is nothing special about the place, if not for sea port, Lagos for be like Ogun or Abia, there are sea ports in Calabar, Warri and Port Harcourt, but in a bid to make Lagos the center of attraction, the federal government refuse to grant license to the sea ports in Niger Delta.

I support that each start should collect their VAT but Lagos nor join, Lagos is for the entire Country. The state nor even get any resources, unlike Rivers State which has an intrinsic value.
In as much as you have made some valid points, please take note that it is not only the availability of sea port that makes Lagos unique. It's a commercial city and check your history, it was a crown colony during colonial era while others were protectorates.as far back as 1898,the Queen of England already has interest in what is going on in Lagos.

This move will encourage states to develop themselves. Not someone saying NO to western development yet eating from the fruit of others. DEVELOP UR STATE. The ones that like chasing away companies and businesses will definitely encourage businesses and companies to invest on their soil

Why are you obsess about the north?

There was north before VAT and crude oil in the south.
