We borrow money to build railways and roads that can not put money into the government coffers or produce jobs. Why not put money into money making labour intensive industries like agro allied and textile/ apparels
like the Asians did?
We build shiny roads, railways and buildings to dig ourselves deeper into poverty and debt. Smh.

Let's take it from a lay man's perspective.....by agro allied industries you mean industries that uses agricultural produce or products as raw materials to produce into finished goods,but pls tell me how these farmers will be able to get their farm produce to the point of production without good roads? Economy can't thrive without good road networks. I am in the transport sector and by extension in the agric sector and I can't emphasise on the importance of good road to both sectors.

With or without good roads farm products still get to the consumers. I understand your point but when we just borrow money and claim to spend it all on building roads and railways, I don't see how that alone can build the economy.

But if government massively get involved in production of agricultural products through the private sector I.e commercial banks, it can have a great impact on the economy and employment, especially in the rural areas where we have a significant percentage of our population. This may even check rural urban migration.

People like you would have access to loans and equipment. With time the roads will improve without the country throwing itself into deeper debt. I am not saying we shouldn't spend money on strategic roads but borrowing money and putting almost everything on conspicuous projects like roads is a fvckup In my opinion. Just like Aregbesola did in osun state.

I can’t believe you’re trying to convince yourself that life expectancy has nothing to do with quality standards of living. do you even live in Africa. Sub Saharan Africa is a shithole. Most of us are trying to leave. I’ve already left and I’m happy about it. Togo isn’t in any war, but if Afghanistan are living longer than them it says a lot about their government. Though they all have some level of capitalism... China is even less socialistic than Germany
