He will move to Benin Republic and operate from there. His not the problem. Even if they bring his site down in Nigerian he will still get visitors and ads because majority of the people that visit his site doesnt even reside in Nigeria. What happens if he post his updates on social media? They will shut down all social media ba?

This guys should find a way revive naira or even bring it back to where it was before they took office.

If you look at yourself closely you find some of this traits in you.

Yes to some extent but I’m a kind of disruptor and non-conformist though.

Whenever I see myself exhibiting any of those unusual traits, I change the order of things and become the new norm.

A few years back, one of my biggest boss (a structural consultant in one of my old project) visit my site in Lekki Scheme II, he saw me and waved me and went to meet one of my supervisors and asked him he’d like to meet the boss. He actually wanted to hire my steel shutters for foundation and columns.
My guy met him and told him “You’ve just passed him now.”

A typical naija engineer/contractor would buy a pickup truck and still be out there to borrow shovel and headpan.

For the second time in one week, people have asked me if I’m building a gate for a company because the materials used for the construction aren’t cheap.

I told them “I don’t know any other way to do it.”

Mental Health Issues

Yesterday, my supervisor came to inform me that Peter (a very committed construction worker) started speaking incoherently and we may need to stop him from work.

Peter, a Pastor according to friends, was fully kitted in our health and safety kits but this kit wasn’t enough to protect him from anxiety and depression he’s facing as a result of stigmatization. So he decided to do drugs instead of talking to people again about his challenges.

Most health and safety policies in our companies focus on physical wellbeing of workers instead of becoming an open-book on addressing the mental health issues.

Creating enabling environment where every worker feel confident that the way they feel is okay and you're going to be supportive, not judgemental would help manage more mental health issues in our societies than spending heavily to protect their body while leaving their minds unguarded.

I’m not there to diagnose mental health issues. I’m there to quickly detect events of stressful life on my sites and counsel the person involved on the next steps to take.

I have always wondered why we don't invest in bigger units of this water heater in our building projects here in Nigeria.

So instead of having this 15ltrs single water heater, we use one big unit for the whole house... (see attached picture)

What might be the reason for this?

I have even checked out house for sale listing online on high end newer houses in lekki, abuja etc and they were all show casing the single units.

Any idea/hypothesis on why this single units are not always used here in Nigeria?

That was what Chukwuma Soludo tried to do when he floated the naira denomination idea, but the government of the day didn't think it a good idea back then. But we as humans can only hope and pray, and especially, hedge our positions against sudden loss of value brought about by inflation.

Let me share this.

Several years ago when I was still managing tech in some malls in Lagos, the central AC system at The Palms Mall developed fault and started malfunctioning.

That period a lot of tenant and visitors wished a central system wasn’t installed because it took a lot of time before the technicians could rectify the fault and many of the tenants suffered a huge loss.

Imagine being in a cinema without an AC.

What might be the reason for this?

Central Ac more expensive than individual Acs , same with maintenance and running cost , power might be more too , nearly proceeded With one for a project . Changed my mind after several advice .

Correct , if any issue , most of the shops are affected , if individual, affects only that shop

Some of the things you should be asking the dealers are
1.How many years warranty is on the Product.
2.Is the spare parts readily available in Nigeria or how long does it take them to import the spare parts.
Two brand that I can name is
Daikin and LG.They have the capacity to deliver those two important points.
Because one of the problems of central AC's is availability of spare sparts when it breaks down.

There is this type I normally see in china on roof tops , works with solar I think and used by several rooms/ apartments

The ones I’ve seen at Home Depot and the model homes that I visited were all individual split units.

Edit: checked, they now have single and dual zones.

Right. When I redo my roof in about five years I’ll be putting a solar water heater on there. It’ll serve as a preheated to the existing electrical one.

More so there part i.e element, thermostats, non- return valve are easier to get and replace.

My take on central heater to individual small heater in each toilets is that

Central heater
-to get replacement part for central heater is hard.
-it only require expert to take repair or replacement of part on it.
- ones it’s develop fault all rooms will experience shortage of hot water at the same time.
- cost effective
