A man told me Dangote is not a good business man, that he can't stand competition.

He is only enjoying the monopoly that the FG (Fulani Government) have mapped for him.

A good business man should have an hindsight on the future of the kind of business he does or is planning to do.

Oil will be minimally important in the future. Green energy is the future. Otedola had this hindsight that was why he cashed out.

You think Dangote doesn't have economists and statistians advising him under his payroll. What makes you think you're more knowledgeable than them?

Africa and some part of the world will still keep on using fossil fuel for at least 2 decades. Dangote will see his ROI long before then

Saudi Arabia, Angola and some other countries with oil are still building new refineries.. All those business analysts saying Dangote is a dumb businessman for investing in a refinery... Is Saudi Arabia (and the other countries) dumb like Dangote? Business analysts my foot..

Electric cars are going to be made with impressive economies of scale. They will come very cheap and be very user friendly. They will also have fantastic integration with mobile phones and with new 5G mobile comms.

You can see that Nigerian oil block owners are completely irrelevant to the tsunami coming the same way Shell, ENI, Total and SinoPec are irrelevant in a world where Tesla, Huawei and others are coming up.

The big issue is the $Trillions that Biden wants to pour into renewable energy. All the money in the entire world is going to line up in that direction.
Forget Nigerian oligarchs.
What might save them would be CNG/LPG fueled charging stations for EVs. However, the cheapness, ubiquitousness and lifestyle advantages of EVs will spur investments in charging stations independent of them anyway.

Even people that got F9 in Economics in WAEC don turn economist on top Dangote refinery..

These are not modular refineries. There is a two decade hybrid space that fossil fuel cars and EVs will co-exist but after that it is bye bye petrol. Diesel will have another 20 year run with natural gas. Then final bye bye.

If you read the business case for new refineries, you will probably see plans to retrofit more into Petrochemicals after the first ten years. Petrochemicals will still use existing the crackers but product streams would be more of feedstock for petrochems

What is modular refinery? Do you understand many of the refineries in the middle East are not constructed on ground many of them are done outside the sites, but assembled in place. Go and check Saudi Aramco is doing.
The profit margin for refineries are minimal. Reason profits come after long operation. I still have my reservations over Dangote refineries.

Well, at least the pressure on our forex will reduce since we'll no longer need to import refined fuel. So it's still a good thing.
