Yes, we know all about that. Korea and some other parts of South East Asia fell under Japan's sphere of influence from the 1870s up-- not throughout the 1800s like you said--- but that shows Japan was the most advanced country in Asia as at then! It shows Japan's development had structure which could still have made it great no matter what. In fact Korea benefited more from Japan than Japan benefited from Korea. The foundation for Korea's greatness we see today was laid by Japan.

Even after Japan lost everything, it still bounced back, just like Germany. This shows that these countries had good ancient structures. This is what Africans should learn from instead of saying Europe and Asia got wealthy because of colonialism. That's a fat lie.

It's not a fat lie though England gained trillions of dollars in wealth from slavery and so did France it's only Germany that had legitgimate growth for the most part in Western Europe the rest of them benefitted greatly from slavery and that includes Belgium and Netherlands

Lol....Dubai has no oil left, only 2% of its GDP is based on oil. Everything else is trade, trade in tourism, trade on finance, trade on entertainment and nowadays trade on real estate and health care.

If a city is term wealthy in oil. it will be abu dhabi In United Arab Emirates and abu dhabi must trade the oil if not nobody is buying it .they can eat it .

They would still have made it by trading in the products they produced and getting the raw materials they needed. Just like China is doing today.

Dubai is not a nation though. It's just a city.
And it's economy was built on the back of manufacturing like I said earlier. I later on mixed it up with UAE.

In the mid 1960s, Dubai built its first free trade zone to attract foreign companies to manufacture goods that could be sold outside Dubai. That free trade zone was/is the largest in the world.

But these days it's more about tourism and service industry. I wonder why it's hard for African countries to follow the same path or something similar.
