Sir, the dates have changed but it's same major factors that are aligned. We have a Northerner Muslim versus Southerner Muslim and the election supervised by a Northerner President with military background and just like then, Kano and Lagos are APC(SDP).

See, Tinubu will contest whether you guys like him or not. If he is edge out by another northerner with the help of Igbo folks, the Yorubas will claim they got betrayed by the north after supporting them in 2015 and 2019. Another round of political unrest like we witnessed from 1993 till 1998 will ensue. At the end of the day, the North will be forced to make another concession to the south west in order to keep the country and south east will lose out again.

So you see, you are not playing this game with your head. The south east will gain absolutely nothing from the anti-Yoruba politics folks like you are pushing for. It will end in tears and we will be here to laugh at you as always.

You can't compare Buhari with ANY politician in Nigeria, despite the fact he doesn't even share money. Despite the fact he even have no structure! His 12M vote is guaranteed since he started participating in politics.
If you underrate Atiku, he will surprise you! He has a structure on ground even before 1999. You think OBJ just selected him to be VP just like that?
You have a structure doesn't mean you will win all the time. For example, Buhari doesn't do structure. He goes directly to the voter. Other times, sentiment will overwhelm any structure you may put in place as happened with GEJ. Also, don't discount the effect of parties contesting apart from the politicians themselves. In the Southeast and South South, even a goat will win an election just because it is fielded by PDP.
Atiku is an astute politician with great influence. With a big war chest. The biggest in Nigeria for now. Tinubu is no pushover but his strength comes from putting people in places they can advance his interest. You will be surprised if you know people who got where they are now because of Tinubu. This is not limited to the South West. Tinubu's strength comes from alliances he has built all over the country, not in a structure per se.
Both strategies have their advantage and disadvantages. Your structure can be schemed out at the local level so they are not the delegate that will select candidates. This has happened to Tinubu a lot in South West where he has his structure. On the other hand, your allies can be bought over and forget what you did for them in the past when promised better things for their support

If not for atiku, obj would have collected lagos in 2003 by all means. Atiku was the one that was charged to collect all the AD states, but he left Lagos because of his friendship with tinubu.
