Good morning dearest reader, I wish you a wonderful week ahead. I am glad to announce to you that finally, I am done with the much anticipated project I had planned to work on earlier, where I was going to give my tips on how to get the best value when getting a brand new or used TV for gaming in Nigeria, both on the PS4 and PS5. It won’t be fair to just jump into it just like that without turning some rocks first as that would carry extreme newbies along too and to also aid us in understanding the main reason for this write up, Permit me to name this project “The Tv Series, and to rid it write up of vagueness and ambiguity, and it’s gonna be split into four parts, in an episodic format: Episode 1: Types of TVs out there today based on its Resolution Episode 2: Types of TV based on the technology used in manufacturing it Episode 3: What features of TV is right for me? Season Finale: My tips on how to get the best value when getting a TV for gaming, both on the PS4 and PS5. Grab your popcorn and have your seat as it’s gonna be a wild ride! |
| Re: The HACKED PS4/PS5 SECTION OF NL (Console sales and game installations) by Bobby2020(op): 9:56am On Sep 27, 2021 |
In this first episode, we’re going to discuss on the Types of TVs out there today based on its Resolution, The TVs types would be grouped and taken from the cheapest to the most expensive, let’s go! HD TVs: High definition TV refers to a television screen made up of at least 1,280 x 720 pixels (sometimes called 720p), this is most suitable for PS1 and PS2 owners, although, you can play PS3- PS5 on it but you no go like the graphics because it would be outputting a lower resolution then what the game should be outputting, therefore resulting in a lower picture quality. HDTVs often comes in 32 inches sizes and are the cheapest TVs to buy FullHD TV/FHD TV: Full Higher Definition TV, also referred to as true HDTV, is a television (TV) display technology that surpasses the video quality and sharpness of the original high-definition television ( HDTV) technology, providing an image resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels (sometimes called 1080p TVs) These kind of TV’s are perfect for the PS3 (e get 1080p max resolution) and “okay” for PS4 fat and slim (why I said it’s “okay” for it because the PS4’s graphics can be upscaled on a better TV), although it’d work on PS5, it’s most definitely not recommended as the PS5 was made to take advantage of the best TV’s out there, you’d understand better in the part 3 of this series, I recommend you buy the TV below for a wonderful experience on the PS4 and PS5 4k UHD/UHD TVs: if you see a TV that has 4K Ultra HD on it, it means the TV's screen has a minimum resolution of 3,840 pixels wide and 2,160 pixels high, making it the equivalent to two 1080p screens in height and two in length. You see these TV’s ehn, they are highly recommended for the PS4 and the PS5. No go think I sabi book oh lol, na Google + little experience I used to come up with the explanation above Lol now that we know the basic differences in TVs based on their resolutions, lets play episode 2 one time |
| Re: The HACKED PS4/PS5 SECTION OF NL (Console sales and game installations) by Bobby2020(op): 9:57am On Sep 27, 2021 |
Episode 2: in this episode, we’re gonna be discussing on the types of TV based on the technology used in manufacturing it. The types of TVs would be grouped from the cheapest to the most expensive ✅ Plasma TV ✅ LCD ✅ LED TVs ✅ OLED TVs ✅ 8k TVs 1. Plasma TVs: this is a very old technology in TVs, please run away from these kind of TVs, DO NOT BUY THEM, I won’t even waste any time trying to define them for you. JUST RUN when you see Plasma 2. LCD TV & LED TV: LCD means Liquid crystal Display and LED means Light Emitting Diode. LCD TVs are television sets that use liquid-crystal displays to produce images. They are, by far, the most widely produced and sold television display type. LCD TVs are thin and light, but have some disadvantages compared to other display types such as high power consumption, poorer contrast ratio, and inferior color gamut . The LED televisions works almost the same way like an LCD are almost identical products in the sense that LED televisions uses a liquid crystal display (LCD) to produce a picture but what separates them is their method of producing light behind the screen. Similar to the original television technology, LCD televisions use a highly-efficient fluorescent tube behind the display to produce light that illuminates the changing pixels on the screen. In contrast, LED televisions don’t have a fluorescent tube, but instead have many small light emitting diode (LED) bulbs that allow for more control over where light is broadcast in the display. Because of their smaller size, LEDs are placed both behind the screen and around the edges of the display for a brighter and crisper image. When The LEDs either sit behind the screen, it is called “full array LED”, on the other hand, when it’s at the edge of the screen, it is called ”edge-lit LED”. The backlight creates the light, which passes through the liquid crystals, along with a few other filter layers, to create the picture. LED TVs are the brightest TVs there is but has poorer blacks and lower picture quality and “blooming” when compared to the OLED, but don’t get me wrong o, LED/LCD with the right tech has has excellent picture quality, but OLED is Excellenter lol. An examples of LED TVs for Samsung Products are the Tu700 modes, Ru700 models etc and are recommended for mid-range gaming Variations of the LED TV Long story short, any TV you see that has any of the terminologies below, just know in your heart that asides the obvious advantages that it’ll bring the out the best colors and picture quality, deeper blacks out pf LCD/LED TV that has this tech than the ones that doesn’t have it, it’ll be way more expensive than TVs that do not have this tech. * Quantum Dot tech The first thing to know is quantum-dot televisions are a new type of LED-backlit LCD TV. The image is created just like it is on an LCD screen, but quantum-dot technology enhances the color, because it is embedded directly into the stack of materials that make up the LCD display. When light hits them from the LED backlight, these dots emit their own light to enhance the image on-screen. The goal is to lessen one of the main weaknesses of LED technology, which is the “blooming” (which means the effect of brighter parts of an image slightly lighting the areas around the image, and color bleeding), and increase overall picture quality. An example of a Samsung TV that uses this tech is the “Q” Series that’s the Q60r, Q60t, Q70r, Q80r, Q90r to mention a few, any Samsung TV that starts with the Letter “Q”, it has Quantum Dot tech embedded in it. For Hisense, U7QF, U8QF, H9G, H8G, etc, to spot any Hisence that issues this tech (you’ll see “ULED” boldly written on the box) hence, any TV that uses the Quantum dot tech has way way way way better picture quality than normal LED TVs and is only used in high end TVs and are way more expensive than a normal LED TVs With the advancement of LED technology, different companies has refined the Quantum dot LED to their own taste and patented their own variation of this new technology, Samsung, the most popular user of this tech calls their quantum dot tech QLED (the Q-stands for Quantum Dot + LED) HISENSE calls theirs ULED Which other patented Quantum dot tech can you mention? Note: LG does not use Quantum dot Tech * MiniLED tech: Mini LED is similar to QLED, but the backlights get even smaller. These LEDs are so small they can be almost as small as a single pixel. QLEDs are significantly larger than one pixel, while OLEDs are the size of a single pixel. Mini LED represents the halfway point between QLED and OLED, taking the older tech and trying to approximate what the newer tech can do. What Mini LED offers is noticeably better than QLED or typical LCD offers and it may be hard to discern a difference between the contrast on Mini LED and OLED, as the Mini LED diodes can get almost to the pixel level of an OLED panel. The deep blacks that OLED promises are essentially available with Mini LED. Samsung has gone in all out with the latest Mini LED for 2021 by bring the new backlighting tech to its more premium QLED models. The ones to look out for are the 8K QN900A, QN800A and QN700A Neo QLED TVs and the QN95A, QN94A, QN90A and QN85A 4K TVs. In a nutshell, MiniLED TV’s are even more expensive and better in picture quality, in blacks etc than the native QLED TVs. it’s a very new tech, it’s so expensive my oga. you don’t need to buy a TV that uses this tech, QLED ti wa okay. * NanoCell TVs: this is LG’s response to Samsung’s QLED tech LG NanoCell TVs, on the other hand, use a whole different technology. IPS panels with different basic characteristics are used here. Here the viewing angle is much wider, but the blacks are not as deep and uniform. Particularly in very dark rooms, a dark gray stitch is noticeable on the screen due to the backlighting. On the other hand, IPS panels can handle reflections very well and have sufficient brightness to fight against many light sources in the room. On the other hand, the display of HDR details is rather difficult. However, some high-quality NanoCell TVs have additional Full Array Local Dimming to increase contrast, but the FALD of the NANO85 is really bad and causes blooming, so it’s not really an advantage. These properties make them very suitable for very bright rooms. Basically, Samsung QLED TVs always have a VA panel. This means that the blacks are very deep and brightness and contrast are sufficient for HDR content. Only the viewing angle is limited, so colors slightly lose their luminosity when viewed at an angle and get a gray haze. However, when you’re watching QLED TVs, you’ll notice that they’re extremely saturated and colorful. Na you go chose from the above explanation, which LED variations works best for you. Just have your big money available in hand 3. OLED TV: The “OLED” in OLED TV stands for “organic light-emitting diode.” OLEDs have the unusual property of being able to produce both light and color from a single diode when they’re fed electricity. Because of this, OLED TVs don’t need a separate backlight. Each pixel you see is a self-contained source of color and light, Some of the benefits of OLED screens are that they can be extremely thin, flexible, and even rollable. But the biggest benefit when we compare them to LED TVs is that each individual pixel receives its own luminance and power which gives it better and the best picture quality you could ever dream of, the best blacks you could ever wish for, e come flat like say no tomorrow, these KIND OF TVS ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR THE PS5 and PS4, the graphics would be buttery smooth, LG were the first to introduce this tech to TVs Pardon me if I’m wrong but all OLED TVs are 4k and above, na expensive hot stuff, like very very very hot expensive. No go think say e no get disadvantages tho, buying an OLED TV comes with its own risk (so please consider MiniLED instead if money plenty for you hand well well), you’ve got to be a responsible user, it is extremely fragile because the screen is extremely thin, e thin pass the smartphone you’re using right now, like literally . And do you know what’s worse? OLED screens are prone to permanent Burn in risk, what causes Burn is having static images displaying on the screen for too long that they’ll be baked into the display, some burn-ins are temporary, and in some extreme cases, permanent. For example when watching CNN Chanel for example, you know that “CNN” logo that stays on the right hand of the screen abi, those are called static images. Imagine leaving the TV on CNN station for weeks without turning the TV off, omo that Logo can “burn” into your TV, like whenever you’re watching super sport, e go still still Dey show a ghostly figure of the CNN logo in a football match. OLED companies have claimed that they’ve introduced a new tech that can counter/reduce “burn-in risk”, this new tech was introduced to OLED TVs manufactured in 2019, but to be on the safer side: 1. Always turn off the Tv when not in use 2. Don’t set your OLED TV brightness to 100% 3. If you can afford it, buy OLED TVs from 2019 and above 4. Or to be on the safest side, buy a LED TV, cheaper and has no permanent burn-in risk 4. 8k TVs : I won’t talk about them at all, too expensive, that’s all I can say. Moving in to episode 3 lol |
| Re: The HACKED PS4/PS5 SECTION OF NL (Console sales and game installations) by Bobby2020(op): 9:58am On Sep 27, 2021 |
Episode 3 By now, I’m sure we now know the types of TV based on resolution, the types of TV based on the technology used to produce it. Now in this third episode, we’re gonna talk about types of TV based on its features We’re gonna categorize this episode intro two groups, did you just ask me why? If you ask me who I go ask? * Group A Dumb TVs VS Smart TVs * Group B FALD HDR (HDR 10, HDR 10+, HLG, DOLBY VISION) HDMI 2.1 ALLM The above terminologies may seem funny at first but it’s important for us to discuss and understand them all Group A Dumb TV : Dumb TVs like the name implies, doesn’t mean the TV’s are “dumb”, What it means is that it’s a Dumb idea to buy a Dumb TV in 2021 lol. A dumb TV is any TV that doesn't have smart features, such as the ability to load apps and streaming services. Furthermore, dumb TVs don't have internet connectivity or an operating system. ... we’re in 2021, come on, don’t buy a dumb TV, get yourself a smart TV, there are very affordable smart TV’s out there. Smart TVs are the direct opposite of the “Dumb TVs”, these kind of TV’s are what you should look out for, correct me if I’m wrong but all 4k TVs are smart TVs, and on the other hand, there are smart TVs that aren’t 4k TV manufacturers have their own type of operating system for their smart TVs Panasonic uses “My Home Screen” operating system, it’s a variation of the Firefox OS LG uses Web OS Samsung uses Tizen OS Sony uses Android TV TLC sef uses Android TV Hisense uses (VIDAA OS, Android TV, Roku TV) Just to mention a few. Because of time and space and my hand that is paining me already for typing for this long, I won’t be defining these operating systems. Group B: FALD (full array local dimming): FALD, or full array local dimming, is just a fancy LCD display. Instead of employing lights on one side, FALD TVs spread the love to all four edges. These light zones then pass through the same filters as above to produce the picture. However, these zones can dim independently of one another which helps to produce deeper blacks. TVs with FALD is are more expensive than the ones that doesn’t have, The more dimming zones, the better the blacks and more expensive the TV is. HDMI 2.1 (4k/120fps) /VRR (variable refresh rate): this is the next generation tech stuff, directed to PS5 and Xbox series X owners, it takes the frame rates of games to the fullest, like it literally doubles the frame rates a PS4 Pro can produce at Max graphics settings 4k at 60 frames per second, the graphics would be buttery smooth and details you won’t see on a native 4k/60fps 60Hz TV (fps in this context meaning frame rates per second, the higher the better), would be seen on 120Hz TVs with this feature, you go just dey do wow wow wow like ambulance when you experience it, it’s the next big thing for the next-gen consoles. It is not needed or useful for PS4 users because the PS4 can’t go higher than 4k/60fps so even if you own a TV that has this feature, it’ll stick to 4k/60fps. Only the very highest end TVs has this feature (Samsung Q90r has this feature because it’s a 120hz high refresh panel). This should not be a target for you if you own a PS4 and isn’t looking to upgrade to a PS5 any time soon. ALLM (Auto Low Latency mode): to understand this, let’s ask ourselves this question, what is “button lag” when gaming? The “Lag” in gaming is the amount of time it takes after a command is given by a user to your pad and the command being executed on your screen. In other words, you know that sometimes, you’ll press X on the pad to pass when it playing FIFA, but you notice that it takes long at times before it actually does it on the screen, most especially when you try to score, you go don press square button down, player no go gree shoot until keeper collects it, e go come pain you lol, because you knew that you actually pressed it in time but it didn’t register on the screen in time. Now that’s the part where ALLM comes in, simply put , ALLM triggers the lowest latency setting on a device for a smoother, lag-free experience. With regards to TVs, this would be considered as the ‘game mode’. A game mode turns off any image processing to ensure inputs from your controller are processed by the console and reflected on-screen with minimal delay, the disadvantages of this is that it makes the graphics slightly poorer but expect gameplay to be smoother, First Person Shooter (FPS) players (call of duty, battlefield, far cry etc) and fighting game players too (mortal kombat, street fighter, tekken etc) needs this feature too. Not really important thing to consider when buying a TV but most high end Smart TVs has this mode embedded in its operating already HDR: HDR stands for high dynamic range. The abbreviation will be familiar because it's a term also used in photography, with HDR on some cameras and many smartphones It's the same thing, because on televisions, just as in photography, the aim is to recreate an image that's closer to that seen by the human eye, or to better recreate the vision of the original storyteller. That often means balancing out light and dark areas or the range of colours, and not losing, for example, shadow detail because of a bright sky, and giving a more realistic motion picture, with images that pop and are more vibrant, you can check on YouTube for HDR TVs VS non HDR TVs, you’ll see how much of a big deal HDR is. HDR varies from TV to TV as well, the better the TV, the Better the HDR it can produce, Most 4k TVs HDR, some doesn’t, if you’re out there for a 4k TV, be sure to get one that has HDR There are Three variants of HDR HDR10 & HDR 10+: the HDR 10 is basically the definition of the HDR given above, HDR 10+ is where things get sweeter, As the name suggests, HDR10+ takes all of the good parts of HDR10 and improves upon them. It quadruples the maximum brightness to 4,000 nits, which thereby increases contrast too. But the biggest difference is in how HDR10+ handles information. With HDR10, the “metadata” that is fed by the content source is static, which means there’s one set of values established for a whole piece of content, like an entire movie. HDR10+ makes this metadata dynamic, allowing it to change for each frame of video. This means every frame is treated to its own set of colors, brightness, and contrast parameters, making for a much more realistic-looking image. Areas of the screen that might have been oversaturated under HDR10 will display their full details with HDR10+. It works the same way the Dolby vision does. Dolby Vision: Dolby Vision is the brand name for a high dynamic range (HDR) 4K video format developed and promoted by the folks that brought us Dolby Surround and all its subsequent permutations. To use the Dolby Vision logo on a TV or Blu-ray player, manufacturers must pay to certify their products and license the name. The Dolby HDR format is also used in video production, making it a professional as well as a consumer brand. It’s not entirely important that your next TV should have this, but it’s an added advantage. HLG: Hybrid log gamma, or HLG, is another kind of high dynamic range (HDR), although similar to HDR10 and Dolby Vision. Hybrid Log Gamma aims to solve two problems that exist with other HDR technologies. First, existing HDR solutions like Dolby Vision and HDR10 aren’t suitable for broadcast signals, for reasons we’ll explain later. Second, no other existing HDR technologies are easily backward compatible, meaning that not only are owners of older TVs out of luck, but content needs to be produced in both HDR and non-HDR varieties. In order to show something in HDR, your TV needs to know how to display the signal. Both HDR 10 and Dolby Vision use metadata to tell your TV how to display colors and assign brightness parameters. The problem, at least from a backward-compatibility standpoint, is that older TVs and modern TVs that don’t support HDR don’t see this metadata and wouldn’t know what to do with it if they did. HLG takes a different approach. Instead of of using metadata like the HDR 10 and HDR 10+ and starting with an HDR signal, HLG begins with a standard dynamic range (SDR) signal that any TV can use. The extra information for HDR rendering is added on, so an HDR TV that knows to look for this information can use it to display a broader range of colors and a wider range of brightness and better color All three variants of the HDR promises better picture quality for compatible TVs than standard dynamic range material, some TV’s have only one of these three variants of HDR, some have two out of these three variants of HDR, while some special TVs have all of these 3 versions of HDR. |

I’m hoping that by now in the The Season Finale of our TV series, you won’t be dumbfounded when you see something like “FHD LED TV”, or “UHD Smart TV”, or you see something like “QLED with Local Dimming”, you can differentiate between “IPS and VA” panels to mention a few, you’ve also seen how important HDR is to gaming as well. we spent episode 1-3 discussing on the types of TVs based on its Resolution, types of TV based on the technology used in manufacturing it, and finally, the philosophical question “What features of TV is right for me?” ,as that would prepare us for the climax of this series as a whole, which involves me giving my own tips on how to get the best value when getting a brand new or used TV for gaming in Nigeria, both on the PS4 and PS5 and as a bonus, I have included some precautions to take and some experiences of so you won’t fall prey to the various scams online. Are you set, Oya nau, let’s go there! Mehn before we even start discussing on this final chapter, abeg kudos to you for reading every word of my writeup till this very point, I appreciate you gan ni, it took me days to write this for your reading pleasure and furthermore, to help you choose the best TV for you, but thank you all the same for reading, God bless! So here are my tips: 1. Do an extensive Research before dropping your hard earned money for a new TV: Just because you now know some of the major TV terminologies after reading through episode 1 -3, you feel like you already know all there is to be known and you don’t need extra help when getting a new TV, don’t be this person abeg. This is the most important step to take when buying a TV, and would be the lengthiest topic we’ll tackle in this season finale. Let’s assume you decide you want a new or used 50 inches Samsung 4K TV, don’t just go to the store and pick up any TV that you see that has a “Samsung” logo and come back home just like that. If possible, go there twice, the first time being to see their available TVs, then pen down the model numbers of the available TVs there, another method is to call the TV vendor and ask about what models of your favorite brand they have available (pick whichever method works best for you from the above) and then check for the reviews of that TV, either on YouTube or/and Google, please this is very important, the second time you go should be when you wanna buy the TV. Furthermore if you know someone that owns the kind of tv you’d like to buy, be sure to ask them about it so that they can give you firsthand experience about the TV. For easier understanding on how important it is to do research on a TV before you buy it, let’s paint a mental picture let’s assume you’re out for a new Samsung TV and you don’t know anything about the models, on getting there, ask for the model number, let’s say they tell you it’s a Q70r (it’s a wonderful TV, a bit pricey, but a great 2019 TV, but for the sake of this write up, let’s assume you don’t know anything about it), the first thing you need to do is carry your phone out and check Google/YouTube for reviews of the TV, then after that, check for specs of the TV online. A great place for the most up to date specs of any tv is “displayspecificationsDOTcom” (replace the “DOT” with “.”), so here’s how to search for the Q70r’s specs on this website: simply type on Google “Q70R displayspecifications”, a link to the page would be shown, the website requires VPN so be sure to use one to open it, once satisfied with what you’re seeing, only then should you decide to buy that TV. Here’s a safety precaution for you sir when buying a used/brand new sealed TV I think telling you a true life story of what happened to me and a dear friend of mine when we wanted a new TV for him, learn from this story and do not make this same mistake. A friend of mine contacted me wanting to buy a premium used TV for his shiny new PS4 Pro. The problem there is that he wasn’t sure of the size or a particular model or brand he wanted. We were like “when we get there, we’d choose one”. On getting there, we saw a wide range of Sony, Samsung, and a very beautiful and extremely expensive LG OLED TV, but there was one that particularly caught our attention, as we pointed at it, the vendor shouted Ki-Led, Ki-LED!!, “what the hell is that?” I asked, he turned on the TV and the demonstration video the TV was displaying showed very colorful and crisp images that made us blush , it had deep blacks too, the TV truly all the bells and whistles you could ever want in a TV, and that ki-led the vendor was shouting was actually QLED lol, that TV was Samsung 55Q70r, at that time, I must confess that, I had 0 experience with the TV but I knew it was a mad tv. I was oblivious to the importance of research before buying, we didn’t confirm the actual color of the frame/borders/bezels of the TV, the placement of the composite ports (HDMI, USB ports etc), where the power button is before buying, you’ll soon see why knowing the exact position of all these stuff is extremely important), we did 0 research on it before we sharply paid for it and we felt pleased about what we had got. A few hours after getting home, my friend just called me and said “Bobby is it possible for a Q70r to be displaying Q60r in device name inside the TV settings?” (The Q60r is a smaller spec Tv compared to the Q70r which has more advanced image processing, better HDR and all that) I was dumbfounded, I first ask myself that “can Samsung do such a costly mistake?”, That seemed impossible though, a thought just came to my mind, as that the TV was Jailbroken. I told him to “restore factory settings” and update the TV’s operating system, knowing fully well that any jailbreak that was done to it would disappear after formatting and updating. After doing that, the TV mysteriously went back to Q70r, peace was restored and we were all happy. I was having dinner when he then texted me again that he just watched a comparison video between the Q60r and Q70r on YouTube, the Q70r in the video does not look like the Q70r we bought, that his own Q70r looks more like the Q60r shown in the YouTube Video, how did we know you may ask? 1. When watching the YouTube video, we noticed that the bezel on our own Q70r was much larger than one in the video, ours looked like the Q60r 2. when looking at comparison pictures between the two TVs online, we noticed that the buttons below the TV of our own “Q70r” was just 2, while on the one on the Q70r online was 4. Turns out were sold an inferior tv that was Jailbroken to show the software of a much higher TV lol you might think the above is dismissible when buying a TV but it’s this same experience that saved me when I wanted to buy a 55Q80r from another seller, guess what, it was a Jailbroken TV (probably Q70/Q60r), the Q80r has a carbon silver like frame/border around it, the Q70r on the other hand has a black border around it, I did my homework well well before going there, on getting there, as I realized the TV was Jailbroken inferior TV, I just turned back and went home without talking to the seller In my opinion, I feel these TV companies (especially Samsung and LG) actually encourage these scammers, instead of them to make their TV designs distinct from one another, they’ll be making identical TVs, so a deceptive dealer would just jailbreak a lesser tv and install the software of a higher TV on it, so a buyer who hasn’t done his homework would just get scammed. At least I thank God for my ordeal, we were only sold an inferior TV, the pictures, someone people have had it worse. I’ll post screenshots of someone that got scammed clean clean on the classified, known as jiji. He was greedy buyer and didn’t do enough homework before buying the brand new TV, Baba bought a brand new sealed 65 inches 4k “LG TV” for 110k, only to his shock that 1 month later, TV started giving faults, he then decided to call LG customer service to lodge a complaint since it was under warranty, LG didn’t recognize his TV model, I also ran a google search for the particular TV, 0 reviews online, do you know what’s even worse? That TV isn’t on LG’s officially website, guess the only place where I saw it, only on Jiji. Na fake TV them sell for an. I can’t stress enough why it’s so important for you to do your homework well well, so as to not be sold a fake or inferior TV as an original one for you, a word is enough for the wise. |
| Re: The HACKED PS4/PS5 SECTION OF NL (Console sales and game installations) by Bobby2020(op): 10:04am On Sep 27, 2021 |
Bobby2020:2. The brand slave: Don’t be a brand slave, don’t conclude that your tv is the best because Samsung manufactured it or LG manufactured it, don’t just tell yourself I wanna buy a Samsung tv of say I wanna buy an LG 4k TV, Mehn you go buy rubbish o, Always ask for model number number and search for the review on google before agreeing to buy the TV. What some consumers don’t know is that there are some Panasonic TVs that has more features than your LG, there are some HISENSE TVs that has more features than your Samsung TVs and would even be sold at an even cheaper price, the list goes on and on. Let’s take the [b{Panasonic GX820b for example, this is by lauded by some critics as one of the best midrange TV in 2019 because of the outstanding picture quality. It also has: HDR10 HDR10+ HLG DOLBY VISION DOLBY ATMOS (for surround sound) It’s extremely thin bezels makes it pleasing to the eyes, Mehn it’s a beautiful TV, this is better than the Samsung Ru700 series or Tu800 series that doesn’t have the same support for the above. Just like the Hisense H9G (not available in 9ja tho, we have the lower spec U7QF instead in Nigeria and in UK), it’s just as good as Samsung Q80r and retails for almost half the price. So instead of going to the market to but a “Samsung” or “LG” TV, take a look at the models instead and check for reviews online to see if it meets your requirements. 3. When buying a used TV, follow my first rule to the book or avoid buying used Samsung/LG all together, try other brands: Do not get me wrong my daddy, I’m not saying it’s bad to buy a used TV, I personally cannot afford a brand new higher spec TV, the money for a brand new midrange TV would buy a perfect tokunbo high end TV, although we all know the caveats of buying used. Do you know why I said you should be wary of buying used Samsung or LG? These TV sellers know that most people have that “brand slave” mentality and would buy anything that has a “Samsung” or “LG” or “Sony” on it, so the demand for it is extremely high, they’ll be left with no choice than to import faulty & fake Samsung and LG TVs to keep up with the demand, for the faulty TVs they import, they’ll put substandard parts to fix it it and sell it. The problem with Samsung TVs according to my friend who repairs TVs for a living is it’s compatibility with fake parts lol. Some LG parts would work in a Samsung TV, and trust me, a devious Vendor won’t never buy an expensive LG parts to fix the TV to sell as that would reduce their profit margin, they’ll import fake parts to fix and sell to unsuspecting buyers just to keep up with the extremely high demand of LG, Samsung and Sony products in our country, they’ll even sell fake TV as original as well, Fake Hisense sef don choke for market lol. Another reason why I say it’s better to try other brands when buying a used TV is that It’s harder to see someone selling a fake Phillips/Panasonic/Sharp TVs among others because my 9ja people no Dey look their way at all, they are the underdogs in the TV market, but remember, a brand being an underdog in the TV world doesn’t mean it’s not as good as the big dogs (Hisense the underdog compared to Samsung and the likes is the fastest growing brand in 2021), na flashy features, advertising and marketing and brand loyalty Dey carry your big brands like LG dem o, I’ve seen some people whom all their electronics are LG, from their Fridge, to their TV, sound bar, AC, washing machine, now that’s brand loyalty lol. Hence my assertion that the are best used TVs to buy are the underdog brands, just make sure you read reviews first before buying. However if you’re still not convinced, just be sure the person is a legit seller, do research of your TV and collect your receipt after buying. So in case of of any wahala, you know where to start from. 4. The fallacy that a Bigger screen means a better TV: “The bigger the TV, the more advanced it is” a lot of would-be buyers have this same thought, this is a very wrong thought process, how can someone say a 75 inches Samsung LCD TU800 is better than a 55 inches QLED Q90r? Like are you for real? Dead this thought today. Some would-be buyers would also hold to the assertion that that because a TV is curved, it has more features than the flat screened ones, this idea is very 100% true. Some flat screens have more mad features than the curved one and vice-versa, it all depends on the TV model 5. Being greedy by setting unrealistic ally low budget for a much higher end TV Don’t be greedy when buying a TV, cut your coat according to your size, some customers would be looking for some features like HDMI 2.1 (4k @120fps) or VRR (variable refresh rate), ALLM (auto low latency mode) etc that you can find only find in a 500k TV (this is just a rough estimate), they’ll be looking for the same with a 150k budget, no be juju be that? I’m gonna reference that jiji buyer screenshot I posted below, imagine buying a brand new sealed 65 inches LG 4k for 110k? And you expect it to work well, how’s that even perceivably possible? This is how people get scammed in computer village too. Looking for iPhone 12 Pro Max for 200k, no be “fufu” be that? You go collect fufu lol. 6. HDR is important: Just check YouTube on Non HDR video Vs HDR video, you’d understand. For best picture quality and experience when gaming, go for OLED/QLED (and other TVs with Quantum dot, MiniLED and all that good stuff) : You can never go wrong with Quantum Dot, it’s what Samsung uses in their high end TVs, it really does make a difference in your viewing experience when compared to a normal LCD/LED TV. The OLED on the other hand, if you get money well well, try going for the ones manufactured in 2019 and above, the ones manufactured in 2018 and below sef are okay but go for the former if you can afford it, I recently saw the C1 OLED by LG, I almost hated my small 32 inches TV I use for work. OLED na wonderful tech with beautiful picture quality and HDR that pop, just don’t forget about the permanent burn-in risk though. Whichever TV you end up buying, Just make sure your TV has some, if not all of the various HDR formats we’ve discussed earlier, it’s a huge bonus if it has all though! 7. For PS5 owners looking to buy a new brand new or used TV, get a TV with HDMI 2.1 4k/120hz with variable refresh rate: The TVs with 120Hz panels comes equipped HDMI 2.1 is like the next big thing in gaming, although this feature isn’t useful as doesn’t work for the PS4 right now (because it’s tied to 4k @ 60 frame rates per second) but one day one day, we’ll all move to the PS5, if you’re in the market looking for a TV for your PS5 and you know say you get money well well, you can go for one with this feature, it’ll take your PS5 gaming experience to the next level, PS5 graphics go blow your mind I swear down. Samsung Q90r is a good start, it has the above features, if you get money, buy am, just make sure you’re buying the original one. 8. What TV size is good for gaming?: I won’t lie I love big TVs, I can spend my last card to buy a high end 85 inches TV lol, But for a standard TV to be big enough for gaming, from 49 inches and above, a 55 inches TV is the pure standard TV for gaming though, 65 inches are for those who wants to go the extra mile, which is wonderful, 75 inches and above is for sugar daddy gamers, gbe fun oga boss. A warning is that no go buy big size midrange TV and leave a higher end smaller sized TV because you wan play game on oversized screen oh, to buttress my point, let’s us an apple product as an example, the iPhone 11 has a larger screen than the 11 pro, but we know the Pro has 3 better cameras cameras, has a better but smaller OLED screen compared to the LCD on the iPhone 11, so take note of this. 9. Buy from Licensed store and collect ya receipt: If you’re buying a brand new sealed TV, Buy your favorite TV brand from a licensed store, then follow the first rule, and do your homework before buying. If you’re buying a used TV, especially alaba St. Peter’s, just make sure you: * Go with someone that knows the place well well * If you no get person Wey sabi the place well well, be fluent in Igbo or someone who sabi Igbo. * Do not follow all those guys that usually stand on the road with screwdrivers and says to every passerby “you buy buy, sell or swap?”, avoid those guys at all costs. * Collect your receipt after buying, in case you get home and e no work again (electronics can be funny at times), you fit return am immediately. Most of these online used TV sellers on IG have a store at St. Peter’s, Alaba international market, that’s the number 1 place for used TVs and other electronics, trust me. There are a lot of honest sellers at alaba, there are dishonest sellers too, same as computer village, same as anywhere. Just because I have been scammed doesn’t mean every single vendor there are scammers, in every flock, there’s a black sheep with white fur, we just need help to filter them out at times. I have bought more than 10 used TVs from alaba and none to complain from till date, the oldest being a 2015 model Panasonic CX700b, Still works and looks just as good as the day we first got it. Just meet a legit person, no harm will befall you Baba mi 10. Show you ears some love while gaming: Consumers don’t pay attention to this when viewing contents on their television, but the reality is that what you see on the screen while gaming is just as important as what you hear while gaming. Baba mi, try to get a sound bar/wired speakers, it’ll elevate your experience to the next level. Tv speaker are good, I know, but just see how sweeter your gaming experience would be when you connect your Tv to an external speaker, especially playing shooting games like call of duty, you go Dey hear realistic bullet sounds as the game intended you to hear it, or when you play need for speed, Baba mi, the sound of the engine roaring through the exhaust pipes of your car would get your heart pumping! Let’s take phones for example, if the speakers were adequate enough, would there be need for headphones:”/Bluetooth speakers? Just give it a try daddy, you won’t regret it! This brings us to the end of my write up, I hope you enjoyed reading it just as much as I enjoyed compiling this write up for you, and more importantly, I really hope my write up would help you to make a better decision when buying your next TV for gaming as that’s my primary intention for this write up. My fingers don Dey pain me for typing this much. Thanks for your views and patronage, this is my own little way of giving back to you all the love you’ve given to me, you take care.

Bobby2020:Keep it up boss , I for one am a very keen follower of this thread . I have a question to ask though . Is the Samsung QLED Q80T the same as the QLED Q82T ? Would appreciate a response from you sir. Thanks and God bless |

Slizzords:Good morning young mentor, I personally haven’t seen the Q82T, I don’t think you would too, as according to the internet the aforementioned TV is a EU variant of the standard Q80T, with slightly inferior specs. Q80T has 10-bit color, while the Q82T has 8-bit color. Some TV companies take this same path like Hisense with their U7QF and The H9G. These are similar spec TVs but are released in different regions/Continents. The H9G was released in North America and it runs on Android and lots of Local dimming zones with Quantum dot tech and can go toe to toe with Samsung QLEDs released that same year. The TV isn’t available for sale in Nigeria, just check YouTube about the great reviews this TV has, you’ll be so pained it’s not available for our consumption. The U7QF was released in for UK and it’s regions, and came to Nigeria too. It was on their VIDAA proprietary operating system, it has their ULED (Quantum dot tech) with fewer local dimming zones than the its H9G sibling. This is available for sale in Nigeria too. Permit me if I’m wrong but I think this is the step Samsung took with the Q80T and Q82T |

One thing I can say for certain is that if you’re out for a used TV, you can get a great TV for that price. From 43-49 inches if you can beg and price with the seller well. It’ll be so easy for me to recommend a good TV, but the problem is in it’s availability. What you can do for yourself is 1. Save up your money first 2. I can’t possibly choose for you as everyone’s tastes are different, what I can tell you is to Go to the TV store and ask for the available models for your preferred TV size 3. Check for reviews and specs on both YouTube and Google, my door is always open to you if you’ve any questions about it, don’t hesitate to hit me up my lordship Good luck on your search for a TV my mentorship. |
