Yes, snakes can climb.

They climb trees ( I encountered one when I climbed a guava tree as a teenager.).

They also climb fences.
I remember someone here posted a photo of a snake climbing a fence in their compound a couple of years ago.

This snake could have passed under the gate too.

They do climb trees by circling it but fence is way too straight for them that's my concern

Who told you snake cant climb fence?? The day i had the shock of my life was the day i saw a green snake chasing a lizard on my fence even without legs and i was suprised but i ended up killing the snake
