This here is the issue. It wasn't said so like this from the onset till after messi won the trophy. I know cos I've been in this forum for a very long time and I've been visiting all club's threads mostly and not one ever mentioned copa was a useless tourney compared to others all those years. Suddenly we started seeing history of copa, how copa was held every week, how they invited other nations (as if we didn't know), how nations like Brazil are sending secondary sch boys to represent. All these things happened a day after messi won the trophy.

While I will agree all those things said are true, but it still doesn't validate how it's useless as long as FIFA recognizes it as a main continental tournament. How they(Conmebol) decides to do their seeding, arrangements and tournament ought not to be anybody's issue if I'm being honest here

I’m a Messi Stan and I know Messi didn’t create himself neither did he make sure he was born in Argentina where’s mandated to play against some ragtag South American teams plus japan and Qatar; however I can’t compare the competitiveness of that tournament with euros.

At the euros we saw teams like Belgium, Spain with top players getting dumped out on the way to the finals ..... same can’t be said of Copa America . If j are fortunate not to face both Brazil and Argentina then u are surely on ur way to the finals .

I mean, messi started ball since 2005 and compared started since the nineties. Throughout 2005(lemme start from there) to 2020, copa wasn't talked about how it was useless even though they showed all those characteristics but immediately Argentina won it in 2021(which coincided with messi winning) we started seeing write-ups on how it's useless a day after.

Everyone knows that after world cup, the next main big event is the euros when it comes to Intl footy cos of the competitive nature of it. This argument wouldn't have even started if it was compared outrightly to Europe but the argument was how useless it was as an international competition.
My point is whether teams like Brazil takes it serious or not shouldn't be anyone's concern, whether copa is held every week also shouldn't be anyone's concern as long it's a tourney recognized by FIFA like other intercontinental competitions, it should be given its due respect.
