My Experience Getting Vaccinated! by Hightser(op): 2:07pm On Oct 13, 2021
On the 7th of September 2021, I decided to get vaccinated for travel reasons only.

I went to the health center at awoyaya, ibeju lekki local government and the crowd was massive, I was supposed to travel to Edo state the following day so I decided to get vaccinated in benin, Edo state capital.

So I got to uniben teaching hospital, it was an easy process, get the injection, wait for your registration and collect your card.

Tony, take paracetamol when you get home, echoed the matron who attended to me, I was perplexed, I muttered to myself, if paracetamol was necessary, why didn’t they add it all along with the liquid vaccine? Well, maybe there is something I’m missing.

After three hours of taking the vaccine, I started feeling uneasy, body weakness, heavy shoulder, internal temperature rise, well, I didn’t read much meaning to it, I had stressed myself a lot doing school clearance that I felt it’s not a result of the vaccine.

I finally travelled back to Lagos the following day and I was sick for three days, I kept taking paracetamol till I recovered, I’m hardly sick, maybe 3 or 4 years before I even experience fever.

13th October 2021, I went for second dose of the vaccine, I got the shot as usual, marked the vaccine card to show I have been fully vaccinated, drove out as usual but this time, no one asked me to take paracetamol.

3 hours after, I started feeling uneasy too, the very side of the shoulder I got the shot on was painful, I could no longer lift my hand, internal temperature, cold, if I was a phone battery on 100 percent earlier, I think I discharged to about 65 percent, I remembered paracetamol, I went and got one card of it.

Before evening, I could no longer walk normally without being cautious of falling. I managed to eat, took two tablets of the paracetamol and after sometime, I felt a bit relieved.

Around 3 am at night, I woke up, cold and feverish, I wore thick attire and covered myself with bedsheets, I was shaking or vibrating rather, it’s been long I felt something like that, I thought that was the end of me, well, this morning, I woke up surprised I’m still alive, still taking paracetamol for now.

Few takeaways from what I experienced.

Fever, body weakness and cold are known side effects of the vaccine. I didn’t research that before hence it took me unawares.

The matrons or nurses won’t ask you if you have any underlying illness which is not right.

COVID vaccine is not deadly but few side effects after and one will be fine.

So knowing all this will get you get prepared for the possible after effect.

Well, the side effects are not actually for everyone, depends on your body as old men and women got vaccinated too.

Hmm, I wasn’t prepared for that Chief, it took me unawares, those nurses are supposed to explain what could happen after but they didn’t.

Plus i don't think paracetamol works, especially for me, when i took the first jab 6 weeks ago, i felt uneasy for 4 days that i took plenty paracetamol and some pain reliever then, but yesterday, i was prepared for such and bought paracetamol and the pain reliever i used then, my brother, nothing worked for me...
Even to cook now is a serious wahala, because i am just lying down on my bed...

The thing hold me down, in 3 days you’d be fine. Your whole system go weak.

Truth is, second shot is more powerful than the first shot, from my experience, but, since young people are feeling this way, how would the old people feel and the children too? Well, I don’t recommend children to get vaccinated as I feel the shots are too strong.

Seems you took the Moderna type of vaccination. Everybody I know that took it had one thing or the other to say especially after the first jab. The good thing is moderna has been proved to be one with the highest efficacy of all the vaccines.

I have taken the first dose of AstraZeneca jab and didn’t feel any much side effect other than the pain at the needle spot. Second jab is this month.

Funniest scenario, I was advised and more like compelled to take the jabs by my grandparents..
To them, it didn't have any effect on them...
More reason i couldn't complained when i took the first jab, my thinking was that, i was sick internally and the vaccine pushed it out, but this second jab clear my eyes...na them i first call that wahala don dey...
