I went in search of a Toyota Matrix to buy today, I saw one I liked and got the VIN to do further checks on and I ended up confused. The manufacturing date from the same badge where I got the VIN from is 05/07 (May 2007) as shown in the pic, after running several VIN checks, including one on Toyota's website, it became clear that the car was actually manufactured in 2005 and not 2007 as the manufacturing date on the car indicates. Can the veterans here help me with the reason for this discrepancy?
I also noticed that the Identification plate on this particular Toyota Matrix is different from all the other samples I saw from different car dealers (pics attached). The Odometer reading of the vehicle is also 45k which is suspicious to me. Aside from these discrepancies, the VIN check on the vehicle seemed to confirm that the vehicle is 100% ok; first body, accident free etc.
Please assist me

The second picture shows how all the other Identification badges I saw are which is different from the first one that also incidentally carries a manufacturing date that doesn't tally with the VIN. Does anyone have an idea why?

Forget about this particular car and continue your search till you will get another one that will not stress you. A word is enough.

Could it be a case of VIN cloning?

You just sum everything up.... Don't listen to their sweet talk... They will tell you that Some people made deposit already, don't buy it... that car colour was changed from white to silver.

VIN looks ok

Manufacture date appears to have been changed to demand high sales price from unsuspecting clients. Did the seller advertise the vehicle as a 2007 Matrix?

Not really, I went to the car stand directly and sought for it. Not like I saw it online

Is it possible a third vin exist somewhere on that vehicle?

You don't want to find out how messy those two numbers can get with the police

Asides all that has been written, it is highly likely that the odometer has been rolled backwards to make it appear as a "low-mileage" car

Please, gurus in the house how do u check VIN number and Odometer of vehicle?
