Ok naa..
..
So, you are actually saying that A Running Mate is also As INCONSEQUENTIAL as the Deputy Governor?? Even on the Election Day??
grin grin cheesy
So, if the running mate dies, he will have been disqualified also? I advise you to confirm something before stating it as a fact.

Obiano wife set to join APC.

My brothers and sisters politics in Nigeria is a child play that means after the election obaino himself will decamp also to APC

I believe maduka has step down for Andy ubah there is no betrayal anywhere

. If there is an emergency a running mate can be substituted. For example a running mate can die before election. He will be substituted. In case of the man in question he DIES by decamping to another party. He will be substituted It is a party affair which will be effected with a letter to INEC. Atiku ,Bony Haruna ,PDP vrs AC 1999
atiku/bony haruna has no place in this flawed argument. Atiku was the governor elect. Bonny haruna was deputy governor elect. Atiku went on to accept vice president position. Constitution says deputy takes over. What applies to this case is Lyon David of bayelsa and his deputy. They deputy was disqualified even after he had been elected but not sworn in. That disqualification voided the election of Lyon. So maduka cannot go to the polls without a deputy.
On the lighter note, this may be a stylish way for maduka to step down for Uba

Who told you that running mates can't be changed if they decide to leave? You guys will just wake up and start spewing ignorance on nairaland. Maduka is not disqualified, he will get a new running mate and contest.
Leave am, what if a running mate dies

When I was typing the main Post in the OP,, The Bayelsa case was just playing in my mind.
Being that the Running Mates are strong enough to disqualify a Candidate..
Again, the window for changing candidates have closed.
And Meanwhile, this is not an emergency case where the Running-Mate died or something.
He is still alive.
He is still the Running-Mate, but in a separate party from his candidate.
The fact that both the candidate and the Running-Mate are not in the same party spells doom.
It had never happened before.
So, let's wait and see what INEC would decide.

Running-Mates cannot be changed again..
And now, without a Running-Mate, Maduka is disqualified as a candidate.

I am yet to know what is there in APC that keeps pulling these guys.
Money!!!? Andy Uba and Uzodimma of Imo state are hell-bent with the backing of the fulani- controlled FG. They are throwing all cash into it and you know most inconsequential politicians see it as opportunity to get their breakthrough.

There is time frame for normination and replacement of candidates, that time has elapsed. Check electorial guidelines.
Even when the time elapses, a party is still allowed to replace their candidate if circumstances beyond their control makes the candidate no longer available to them. For instance in Borno 2011 the original candidate of the ANPP was shot dead by boko haram after the time elapsed yet the party was allowed to present another candidate. In Kogi state, the election had even started already before the APC candidate died on the election day still the party was allowed to replace the candidate, that was how Yahaya Bello emerged governor.

This man is still alive.
And his name is still on the list.
He had not Officially withdrawn himself from the race.
..
This means that the Candidate and his Running-Mate are in different Parties.
..
What did the Law say about such a situation??

. What about the case of Wadah who died during election? My submission is this man dies by decamping to another party so Accord party cannot be disenfranchised in the election. As an emergency a new deputy governor will replace him.The same SC judgement still applies.

These are totally different scenarios, withdrawal of candidates is totally different from a candidate being dead. Check your the electoral law.

Maduka had no structure in that makeshift party. He should join hands with apga.

u are turning things upside down. We are not talking of demise or absence of governorship candidate. We are talking about the effect of absence or disqualification of the deputy governorship candidate on the joint ticket and not the other way round. Arrrrrrrgh. How difficuot is this to understand. There is a very clear supreme court case. Go and read your electoral law. You are obviously deficient on that. Wadah was governor elect. He died. Constitution says deputy takes over. Same electoral law says governorship election must be run on a joint ticket. If the deputy is disqualified or decamps after the window given by inec for replacement of contestants, the joint ticket is void. This is exactly what played out in bayelsa. You guys should be smart and read the law. Smart politicians are using the loopholes in the electoral law to perpetuate evil. The scenario is differnet when both have been sworn in.
We are not smart in this country. I knew this scenario will play out when Mary Odili gave that judgement. Same thing with supreme court judgement on Hope uzodinma. That judgement was legally correct. Hope uzodinma capitalised on a loophole in the electoral law to win that case. That loophole is still there. Smart politicians will utilise it in coming elections.

What does the electoral law say if an aspirant dies before election? Does that disenfranchise the party ? In this suation too we apply principles of SC judgement not letters of the law especially in an emergency situation like this like that of Kogi and Adamawa. This is my opinion on this matter. The rest belongs to the ACcord if the party is serious and interested in the election

This is just the main problem with Nigeria..

Well.. We still have to wait for the outcome.
The two scenarios are not the same.

Let's wait and see if INEC would accept a replacement.

is the man dead? These things are well spelt out in the electoral law. You think people who poached him to APC are stupid? The moment Mary Odili gave that judgement, i knew we were in trouble. Next thing someone will start a preelection case challenging the legality of the ticket of Accord party. Should inec include them in the ballot and they win, same fate that befell Lyon will befall accord. Are you surprised that the game played against APC is being used by no other than APC?

unfortunately, hope uzodinma is leading the campaign in Anambra. He will repeat same thing. I will state the loophole here. Electoral law says only polling officer of a polling unit and the court can nullify the result of an election. Implication is that a politician can bribe the PO and write results in his house, sign and submit. Even if the number of votes cast superceeds the valid number of registered voter, no other person than court can nullify that result. In essence, if you follow the law, the criminal will be elected into office while the loser goes to court. If any other officer cancels the votes, that cancellation will be nullified by the court cos the law does not authorise the officer to do so.

politicians are game players who love manipulations. Let us see and wait for Accord Party position on this matter and how it will be viewed by the Court. This may be an update on our electoral matters. Nice contribution from you !

Dr Maduka failed to realize that the people at his rallies are not there for love. They come to see if "something" will be shared. They couldn't care less.

INEC had already said that they would fully be on top of the POs matter this time around.
And again, INEC is seriously looking forward to 100% compliance to Electronic Accreditation/Authentication.
And it is the POs that would bring this expectations into reality.

u know its even worse with the electronic transmission of result. Lol. Once presiding officer keys in false data and sends, that's period. For instance he was paid to manipulate for PDP. He just keys in 250 votes instead of 25 and sends. Case closed.
