This is actually a good development. I am a supporter of community service as an alternative to jail time for minor crimes like this because honestly our prisons are nothing to write home about and convicts usually come out worse than they went in due to all the trauma they experience in there. There is nothing “correctional” about Nigeria’s prison system.

I heard a yahoo boy in another state recently got a 2 year jail sentence for defrauding someone of less than $100. That is very ridiculous.

Why didn't the Ifa help him get back his SUV that was siezed by government as part of the judgment?

This is a minor amount stolen and as such sending him to prison is unnecessary especially given the crowded conditions in the Nigerian Correctional facilities. Hence, the reason for this community service.
