OreMI22:Exactly! Also, they could install world-class route-signs and other road signage on major roads leading to the airport! I emphasised on world-class, so the contract isn't awarded to just anyone based on their friendship or relationship to persons in power! |

PROUDIGBO:I've said it on the other thread the terminal needs more lighting, good project altogether |
| Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by afube: 4:06am On Oct 31, 2021 |
Ceegar01:It's not just additional lighting but the roofing sheets and trusses as it is uncovered should have been painted a shade of white, that white shade will have given a heightened sense of space and light. It is still a good design but an aviation consultant should be contracted to deal with necessary terminal facilities still to be installed audio-visual public address system,avio-bridges etc. |

I congratulate the state government in completing the airport. It will make travel to the state easier. For the incoming governor they should endeavour to take the state to the next level by modernising and expanding the rest of the transport infrastructure. Anambra needs lots more wider roads, it needs modern organised public transport in cities not keke or shuttle, it needs proper bus stations not dirt motor parks. It needs to redesign markets to fit within growing cities without creating problems of filth, congestion and crime. |

ChimaAdeoye:So they told you that commercial airlines had fufilled all rules regarding flights to anambra and the FG decided to stop it. Ode. According to the news report, no airline had counters and thus were not permitted to fly. How do you even board a flight when there is no counter? You don't even know that one, but you'll jump out to cry FG all the time. Very dumb victim mentality wey some of una get here sef. Next one na to jump out now tell me say I no from Anambra ![]() |

Mktinsight take your useless worthless advice back, we don't need it. Anambra international airport has been completed and commissioned to your utter shame and disgrace. You should be hiding somewhere. Anambra is doing great in all sectors; organised transport sector, organised markets, wide roads, sanitation, education, infrastructure, health, etc. Anambra is doing great, we don't need your nonsense advice. | Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by MI6Surveillance: 9:30am On Oct 31, 2021 |
Shut up fool. So you didn't see the counter air peace already stationed inside the terminal building? Air peace had booked flights from Abuja and Lagos days before the commissioning date, only for the federal government via NCAA to thwart and asked the airline to cancel flights because of politics. Stop discussing what you don't know, so you don't sound like someone that's crazy. [s] JohnBullMySon:[/s]

I think Gov Obiano should start fighting for international license at once. A lot of horse trading will happen in the coming weeks as regards commercial flights, I think he should add international flights to the bargain at once. I/m happy he mentioned land has been allocated to the Airforce and AIrpeace Aircraft Maintenance facility. Umueri will totally transform as one of Anambra major cities in the future. |
| Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by globemoney01: 10:11am On Oct 31, 2021 |
JohnBullMySon:Why are people so jealous of Anambra progress? You can literally see Airpeace counter but still talking nonsense. People like you are secretly praying for the airport not to take off just like you prayed for the airport to be abandoned initially. clowns |
| Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by JohnBullMySon: 10:59am On Oct 31, 2021 |
globemoney01:Don't be petty. This is my State. I'm only telling you that there's no need to be blaming federal government because a flight did not land yesterday. That might have been a bureaucratic issue which is common in government. The important thing is that the certificate has been issued, else you will have a point. So you understand now ahbi? because I don't want to insult you. |

Executive Of Niger Delta Youth Association Anambra Chapter Inaugurated In Awka A University lecturer, Prof. Anthony Okoye, from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, says the quest to develop the Nigerian economy from crude oil proceeds has not achieved the desired results due to several challenges plaguing the oil sector. Prof. Okoye disclosed this at the inauguration of the executive members of the Niger Delta Youth Association, Anambra state chapter held in Awka. According to Prof. Okoye who is a Professor of environmental management and pollution control, since the discovery of crude oil in Nigeria, the country is still hindered by financial and economic challenges due to the mismanagement of crude oil proceeds accruing to the country. The University don maintained that the wheel of development of any society lies on the shoulder of how productive and creative the youthful populations are, and made it clear that when youths organize themselves properly, they can insist on periodic environmental auditing to ensure that investors have serious commitment to ecologically sound and sustainable development of the host communities. The National Vice President, Niger Delta Youth Association of Nigeria Worldwide, Comrade Ibiso Harry said that Anambra state was included in the association because of the oil producing status granted to the state by the federal government and commended Governor Willie Obiano for achieving the feat. Earlier, the Anambra state chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria, Comrade Samuel Egwuatu urged the youths to always engage in civil and intellectual discussions in the pursuit of their rights, rather than war. The Anambra state chairman, Niger Delta Youth Association, Comrade Alex Ossaka assured that they will ensure that the interests of the oil producing Communities in the State are protected at all times

JohnBullMySon:If you are from Anambra then you will know that politics is the reason and FG is responsible. There was no sensible reason why flights didnt land yesterday. Passengers already checked in at airports in Lagos and Abuja waiting for boarding. Anyway whatever happens, the airport is here to stay. |

An Address Presented by the Executive Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency, Chief Willie Obiano to mark the formal opening of Anambra International Cargo & Passenger Airport, Umueri on Saturday, October 30, 2021. Protocol Ndi Anambra, this is the day we have all been waiting for…this is our day of Pentecost. In every generation, history is not only made when the Red Sea is divided for God’s chosen people to walk through. No. History is also made when a leader gives shape and form to the silent dreams of his people. Ndi Anambra the dream we have all nurtured for many years has finally come true today. Ndi Anambra, this airport is an idea whose time has come. We fought many battles to be here today. We scaled over incredible financial huddles; survived the global lockdown by COVID-19, conquered self-doubts and flattened out five hills to construct this glorious runaway and to the glory of Almighty God, Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport Umueri is rated as one of the best airports in Africa today. Ndi Anambra, I am told that some people often ask, why should Anambra have an airport when there are airports in neighbouring states? My reply is, why should Anambra not have an airport? Why should a state that hosts the largest retail market in West Africa not have an airport? Why should a state that hosts West Africa’s only auto-city not have an airport? Why should a state whose indigenes pioneered organized road transport and logistics-handling in Nigeria not have an airport? Why should a state with the highest number of owners of private jets in Nigeria not have an airport? And why, please tell me why, should a state with the largest population of itinerant and travelling people in Nigeria not have an airport? Why? Why should we crawl when we can fly? Happily, I have been repeatedly assured by aviation experts that this airport will be one of the most viable airports in Nigeria very soon. I have also been assured that what we have here is one of the most modern airports in Africa. This airport has a runway of 3.7km. It is Nigeria’s second longest runway. It is second only to Murutala Mohammed International Airport Lagos. But it has a Runway End Safety Area (RESA) of 1km on either side of the runway. Unlike the MMIA Lagos, an aircraft can land on either side of our runway. I guess that makes it special. In addition, this airport is equipped with a Satellite Landing System for navigational ease. It is equipped with Category 2 Light. This is among the best airfield lighting system in the world today which makes it possible for flights to land even in the worst weather. It also has Instrument Landing System which ensures that the aircraft is vertically and horizontally aligned to the runway while landing. Our runway is 270 mm thick. That ensures that airbuses, including Boeing 747 can land with ease in this airport. The Apron measures 200x300 meters wide and 560mm thick. Our Apron can comfortably accommodate 8 Boeing 747. It is connected to the Runway by two Taxiways. Ndi Anambra our Control Tower is 34.5 meters high or 11 floors tall. It is equipped with a lift and a staircase. But the most important detail about our Control Tower is that it has an inbuilt fire fighting mechanism. A 350kva standby generator is at the service of our Control Tower. The terminal building has a capacity to accommodate 400 passengers at a time. The scanning machines have all been installed and fully are functional. There are two carousels, three elevators, 36 shops and a VIP Lounge. The terminal building has a most audacious design. The roof is made up of several layers of aluminum and insulator to reduce the intensity of heat and the noise of rainfall. That is why it does not have a conventional ceiling as we know it. The terminal building has a car-park that can accommodate 750 cars at once. Electricity supply to the airport is well planned and functional with 18 hours of light everyday supplied from the substation at Agu Awka. We also have 800kva generator on standby in case of a power outage. This airport is classified as Category 9. This means that it is equipped with three crash tenders of 6x6 with a capacity to dispense 12,000 liters of water at a time. The airport is served by two industrial boreholes and an overhead tank of 21 meters high and a storage facility of 163 cubic meters of water and two surface tanks for fire-fighting with 640 cubic meters of water. We also have 20 water hydrants. The meteorological garden is fully equipped and ready. Our Emergency Operation Center/Clinic is ready with two ambulances; a public address system and other essential equipment fully installed. The dual carriage way leading to this airport from the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway measures 5.7km long and has been completed. It has two bridges and it is well lit at night with dazzling streetlights from end to end. Meanwhile, we have provided land to the management of Air Peace for the proposed construction of the aircraft maintenance hanger within the airport. We have also allocated land to the Nigerian Air Force to set up their operational base here in the airport. In all, we have trained 295 people in various critical operational areas for the take off of the airport. During its construction, this airport put over 2500 in direct employment. Over 400 people will be employed as it finally goes into commercial operation. The process will be gradual. But there will be more jobs for our people. Ndi Anambra, we are ready to welcome the world. We are international now! I must emphasize here that this airport was built from start to finish without borrowing a kobo from the federal government or any financial institution. I must also emphasize that the Government of Anambra State does not owe any contractor for jobs done in this airport. But I must however acknowledge the historic role played by the Anambra State Board of Internal Revenue which lifted our IGR from N8.7bn I inherited when I assumed office in 2014 to N28bn as at the end of 2020. In all likelihood, this airport would have been difficult to complete without their support. In conclusion, Ndi Anambra, here is your airport. The economic viability of this airport is in your hands. For years you have done it for others. Now is the time to do it for yourselves…do it for your home State! Umu nnem, this airport is a monument to the resilience of the Anambra Spirit. It is a tribute to the Vision of our great party, APGA. Our dear state needs sustenance of vision. We need a man whose vision is globally acclaimed; a man who will turn this airport into a beehive of rewarding commercial activities. That man is Prof Chukwuma Soludo. Ndi Anambra, our dear state is on the runway. We need a competent pilot to take us to a destination where the land is green with opportunities. With Chukwuma Soludo in the cockpit, we shall arrive in the destination of our dreams. So, bring out your voters card next Saturday. Vote for APGA Vote for Soludo A-P-G-A---APGA A-P-G-A ----APGA A-P-G-A----APGA Kokoronkoooo! Dalunu! Willie Obiano Governor |

Your goal is to frighten people not to vote so that you will write numbers that won't conflict with the total number of registered voters as you did in Imo state. HERE ARE SOME FACTS ABOUT THE NEWLY ✅It was built in a record time of 15 months by the Willie Obiano led Anambra State Government. The government did not borrow a kobo nor did it seek any form of financial aid to build the airport. ✅ The airport was built by nine contractors and nine service providers. None of the contractors or service providers is owed a kobo. ✅A test flight was performed on April 30, 2021. The first plane that landed in the airport was a plane from the AIR PEACE fleet belonging to Chief Allen Onyema, a worthy son of Anambra State. ✅The airport is expected to create about 1000 direct and indirect jobs. ✅The Anambra International Cargo and Passenger airport is a legacy of the Willie Obiano led APGA administration. A promise that was fulfilled after three decades. OTHER REMARKABLE FEATURES OF THE ANAMBRA AIRPORT INCLUDE: 1. SIZE: The Anambra International cargo and passenger airport is a Category ( CAT ) 4F airport. This means that an A380 aircraft or an Airbus can land comfortably in the airport. 2. THE RUNWAY: The runway is the second-longest runway in Nigeria with: - Length - 3.7km and a runway end safety area (RESA) of 1km at both ends of the runway. - Width - 60 m - Strip - 440 metres on either side of the runway - Thickness - 270mm 3. RUNWAY LIGHTING: The runway is equipped with CAT 2 lighting system. This implies that a plane can be guided by the light to land safely even in adverse weather conditions. 4. SATELLITE LANDING SYSTEM: The airport is equipped with a satellite landing system (SLS). This provides for satellite assisted landing of aircraft should the runway lights fail for any reason. The airport also has Instrument landing system, ILS, which ensures that aircrafts are vertically and horizontally aligned with the runway while landing. 5. TAXI WAY: The airport has two taxiways. 6. THE APRON: The airport apron measures 300 metres by 200 metres. - It can accommodate 8 Boeing 747 aircraft at the same time. - It is built on a rigid pavement of concrete with a thickness measuring 560mm and reinforced top and bottom with concrete measuring 16mm in thickness. - The Apron is built to repel water. So even when it rains, water runs off the surface easily. 7. THE CONTROL TOWER: At a height of 34.5 metres, the control tower of the airport is the tallest in Nigeria. - It is built with concrete top to bottom - It is the height of an 11 storey building. - The control tower has nine suspended floors. - It is equipped with a lift and a staircase. - Both the lift and staircase are fireproof. - It is also equipped with biometric security doors. - Every room in the control tower and indeed the entire airport is equipped with a water sprinkler. - However, the control tower has a self fire fighting system that triggers off when there's a fire emergency. 8. THE TERMINAL BUILDING: The terminal building is designed to accommodate 400 passengers. Other features include: - A departure and arrival lounge - There are 36 shops in the building - There are three lifts and three escalators - Two Avio bridges each equipped with dual boarding passages. This means that four aircraft can take passengers at the same time. 9. RESCUE AND FIRE FIGHTING SERVICES: The airport is CAT 9 airport - It has three fire tenders (fire engines) that can shoot water up to the height of the control tower. - The tenders can be controlled by the driver alone. - The airport is also equipped with 20 hydrants. 10. WATER: The airport is equipped with two industrial boreholes which pump water into: - Tank 1 - 640 cubic metres - Tank 2 - 240 cubic metres - There's also a water treatment plant that takes water to overhead tanks. -The total volume of overhead tanks is 123 cubic metres. 11. POWER: A 33 KVA line drawn from Agụ Awka to the airport guarantees an 18-hour power supply. - Two units of 500KVA generators serve as a backup to provide power always. 12. CAR PARK: The car park is aphalted and properly marked. It is designed to accommodate about 750 vehicles. 13. AIRPORT ROAD: The airport road has two access roads. The first and major airport road measures about 5.7km and connects the Onitsha-Enugu expressway to the airport. It is a dual carriageway road fitted with a bridge on either side of the carriageway. It has drainages on both sides. The road is completed, clearly marked and fitted with streetlights. The second airport road measures about 4km and connects the airport to the Nteje-Umueri-Aguleri road. The driveways within the airport are all asphalted and marked. Ndị Anambra, behold your airport. Built, equipped and launched by Gov Willie Mmaduaburochukwu Obiano, yesterday Saturday, 30th October, 2021. Akpọkuedike has done it. APGA did it. What seemed a fairy tale is finally a reality. |

https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2021/11/01/travellers-protest-high-cost-of-tickets-to-uyo-attribute-exorbitant-fares-to-monopoly/ Imagine George Uriesi of ibom airway saying other airlines could not compete with them on the uyo route and ran away . Same airlines that are competing with them on other routes . They should keep the market to themselves . I trust Allen Onyema when anambra airport is complete ibom air will be frustrated out of that market which will be a bigger market . They have two A220-300s while Airpeace has 4 E195-E2s. They have 4 crj 900s while air peace has 8 ERJ145s . In addition Airpeace has 10 Boeing 737s and 3 Boeing 777s with more E2s lined up for delivery |

JohnBullMySon:If I may ask when did FAAN, AVSEC, NCAA, NAMA, NIMET and FireService deploy its staff to the airport ? When did the CAT2 or CAT 3 calibration take place ? When did the security and fire drills take place ? When did the operational simulations/demonstrations take place. NCAA is one agency that is not partisan and doesn't look at anybody's face. Even the powers that be have desisted from interfering in NCAA's activities following the series of air crash that occurred in 2005. Obiano has done a good job. He should allow his successor see through the certification process |
