You mean with more time, Koeman would have done better?
Obviously, Koeman have had all the time he needed to show he can get the team moving in the right direction. I am speaking from an open mind perspective.

Please. Let's not even start with that.

I feel bad for Xavi too though. Laporta, after his reelection early days clearly said he thought Xavi was still green and needed more experience. Suddenly, he thinks that he's the best thing to happen to the coaching department.

I really wish things turn out well for this man. I just cant bring myself to see Xavi being talked down upon abeg. I just can't.

Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by Awesome01(m):
Please can somebody give us Xavi's stats as a coach since he retired as a player?

We seem to know little about his antecedents. What formation he prefers? His tactics? His philosophy? etc
This vague hope and belief that a former legend player turn coach is the best may not always workout o. I just pray this experiment works sha.

How does this add up to what we're talking about?..the main post was about players goals plus assists in a calendar for the past 11yrs then you brought UCLs into the picture and I corrected you that UCL is a team trophy. If not you'd have put even the likes of Kovacic on 4 with Ronaldo and the whole Madrid. Now you've shifted to why his goals haven't won him as much UCLs as madrid that have13 ucls. Person wey e over hundred UCL goals don help barca get 4 ucl titles out of their total five.
Leeemao

The year barka won their second Ucl, Pessi scored only 1 goal in a 5-0 win in the group stage, how does that amount to help?

Ronaldo will always be the king of Ucl over the stat-padding midget

He has been great. Having played 91 matches, he has over 62, drew 13, and lost 16. That's over 68% win percentage in less than 2 years of coaching Al-Sadd. He also averages as much as 2.19 points per game and prefers the 4 2 3 1 formation. However, fluidity of the game and as you should expect, possession of the ball, are major things he task his players to imploy and also can change gameplay if he's not comfortable with it or it's not in the team's favor.

But there's this particular team he has struggled against since 2019, Al-Nassr. The latter is a team in Saudi Arabia and has repeatedly been a hard nut for Al-Sadd and with Xavi taking over, his best result against them is just one win, and 2 draws since 2019. They've faced 6 times since Xavi became manager and have won against him, 3 times.

Well, with all due respect, the Qatar league is a weak one. You can't really work with whatever happens there.
Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by abduleez1(m): 10:29am On Nov 04, 2021
Honestly I don't like Xavi coming into Barca at this perilous times. I don't want this job tainting his name.

But I have a feeling he might do well. I'm willing to be patient with him cos I know the task at hand.

One thing he needs to tackle and take as priority asap is the Medical Staff. If I was the president, I see no reason to retain this current medical team and physical trainers. They are just too atrocious with their jobs.
An overhaul is needed. Also the team's Training and intensity needs to be increased. This 2hrs30mins stuff ain't working anymore. I hear serious teams do 8hrs of Training per day. We need to adopt this. No wonder our team falters massively against physical teams.

I don't have raw stats about his performance but I hear he's really good.

Anyways, those stats doesn't matter as it's the Qatari league. Nothing close to Europe. If he even coached at South America, the better.

It's his personal identity and mentality I want to gauge. If he can inspire confidence and superior ethos and discipline to the club.
Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by Awesome01(m): 10:34am On Nov 04, 2021
We need a coach that can workout a plan and formation that can bring out the best from these current crop of players we have. Especially since there no money to buy choice players.

If Xavi comes in as speculated, he needs to get psychologists to work on the weak mentality of these players. Most of them are too docile and lacks that hunger of winning games. Some even play as if they are in a Segunda team.

A team with over 70% youthful players should play with aggressivev energy and speed. Examples are Ajax, Leipzig, etc. I expected most of them to use Barca to showcase their talents to the world, but no. Anyway, you can't give what you don't have sha.

Our games has been boring for a long time. Our bench is so nonexistent. I pray Xavi turns things around.

When Messi was without a senior international trophy, critics yapped. Now that Messi defied the odds to win a major international trophy, critics said Lewandoski should win the Ballon d'Or in an international competition year.

Lol.

I totally agree with this. Can he inspire confidence so the team will follow his tactics? Can he inspire discipline to the squad, so that they know who they are - professional players.

Zidane shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence with a celebrated success like Pep.

Pep redefined the way football should play. Pep has managed in 3 different countries like Spain, Germany and England with resounding success. Pep is like the flagship when it comes to modern coaching.

Zidane? I dont even remember how a Zidane team plays. Cross and nod maybe. cheesy cheesy Yes he won a couple of UCLs but he won't go down as some of the greatest coach of this generation. Not great with tactics. Can't remember a revolutionary pattern that could be easily associated with his coaching style. I think he was lucky with the set of excellent players he already met on ground at Real Madrid, players almost at the cusp of success after being drilled by Mourinho and Ancelloti. He just led them to the finishing point.

But Pep is the best coach in the last 10 years. See the way ManCity is playing, you know this man always have a plan and he has the personality to transmit it to the players and change their mentality towards football.

Some people are highly delusional.
If you think lewandoski will win this year's ballonDor then you must be so unintelligent.

The reason they are going to give lewandoski last year's ballonDor is to compensate him because immediately Argentina won the Copa America with Lionel Messi playing a Major row, highest goal scorer, highest assist and best player of the competition. It was clear they were going to give him this year's award.

If you think otherwise then stop dreaming and Wake up to face reality.

This is not true.

Winning the UCL three consecutive times isn't a small feat.

Pep might be ahead but it's not so bad to have him compared to Zidane. He's better but not by a long stretch.

Well, we agree to disagree.

But remove all the UCLs won by both Zidane and Pep. Pep won 2 in 3 years. Zidane won 3 in 3 years. So not bad for both. Yet, lets strip the UCLs from both of them. Let's see what is left.

I can picture the image of Zidane quickly using his both hands to cover his groin region to hide the third leg that would be left dangling grin grin grin once the UCLs is stripped and thus exposing his unclothedness. cheesy smiley

But Pep, you will see so much more. He has a style. He is a visionary and a revolutionist. He's a tactician and a sporting psychologist.
