Work at the new modern jetty in Badore, would be capable of berthing ferries of 500-passenger capacity, is nearing completion (see pictures from earlier in the year below). The Badore Jetty is one of the three new jetties being built by the Lagos State government at a cost of N8.5 billion (the other two are located at Ipakodo and Osborne in Ikoyi), in addition to some old jetties that would be renovated and rehabilitated, under the first phase of the LASG's ferry transportation program. The ferry transportation program would include the building of modern terminals, as well as the dredging and channellisation of some ferry routes. These include Ikorodu - Badore, via Oreta, Baiyeku and Ijede; Ikorodu - Osborne; Badore - Lekki/VI; Oke Afa - Mile 2; Tolu/Ajegunle - Port Novo creek - Liverpool; and the planned repairs of Epeme and Iya Afin jetties. https://www.lagosindicatoronline.com/images/ajah_badore2.gif |

texazzpete: As Eko Ile says, you want Lagos State govt to keep water transportation on ice while they build a multi billion naira shipyard?Ferry services were inaugurated and running some three decades ago: He lamented that the Lagos State Ferry Services Corporation (LSFSC), which thrived during the Alhaji Lateef Jakande and Marwa administrations, had been abandonedSo progress 30 years later would be making the ferries at home instead of siphoning the federal allocation received on behalf of residents of Lagos as well as their taxes, levies and bonds to mortgage their children's future through some Australian company! 1st generation ferries which will definitely not be up to the standard of the australian built ferries? Are you saying our IQ and hence capacity to produce quality ferries, is inferior to those of Australians ![]() |

anonimi: Are you saying our IQ and hence capacity to produce quality ferries, is inferior to those of AustraliansI WILL question YOUR IQ if you think manufacturing is only about having high IQs. The Australians are FAR ahead of us technologically, it isn't funny at all. |

goldspade:Only God knows. All the boats and ferries shown in the pictures on this thread, belong to private companies (e.g. City link Services, Sea Coach Ferry Services and Texas Connection Ferries etc.). Am yet to see an Eko Water Bus Ferry on any of the routes listed in the previous posts. Even the jetties that were constructed, do not justify the huge amount that was reported to have been spent by govt. ![]() In other countries, the jetties and ferry terminals are a beehive of commercial activities like waterfront cafes & restaurants, shops, parking lots & valet services etc. In Lagos and other parts of Nigeria, the govt constructs a huge concrete slab, adds a few rubber bouys and tags it an ultra-modern jetty. What a joke! ![]() Visit Apapa jetty behind Flour Mills, and you will weep. It is poorly constructed and anytime commuters embark and disembark from the ferry and have to go through the terminal to get access the main road, a lot of them do so with their hearts in their mouth. The steps are rough and constitute a threat to human limbs and mobility, but govt doesn't care. There are no entry or exit signs, no fire extinguishers or air-cons and safety grips at the terminals. Let me stop here.... I get upset just thinking about it! ![]() |

jason123:Why on earth would the govt site a jetty at Osborne road which opens up directly on to the edge of Third Mainland Bridge at the point where it is most congested?? ![]() It doesn't make sense! It would have been much better to expand Falomo jetty in Ikoyi and also create a bus terminus right under the bridge, instead of building a new ferry terminal/jetty at Osborne! Residents of Osborne Estate (which is a high brow area) have kicked against it, stating that they did not ask for a jetty on their doorstep and that it would lead to an influx of crowds which could threaten the security of their estate. ![]() Another point that has been made, is that buses would then be stopping on the bridge to pick up and drop off ferry-bound passengers, causing greater traffic congestion on 3rd Mainland Bridge. ![]() Honestly, whoever proposed that Osborne jetty to the govt did a great disservice to commuters on that road. The jetty should have been located at Ilubirin which is closer to Central Lagos and the bus parks. I am still waiting to see how it would all play out in the end. |

Andybaby:I don't know if that route now exists. I know there is a boat service from Lekki and Maroko in Victoria Island to Ikoyi. But from Ajah to Ikoyi? i can't tell. |
