nazicartel:Lagos is nothing without the rest of Nigeria! It is the activity from the rest of Nigeria that makes Lagos what it is and not the other way round!! Bulk of the so-called IGR comes from PAYE. Now federal government has almost all its parastertels and agencies in Lagos and Abuja, so you now know why they are earning the most. |

DOTian:I get wht you are trying to say But the federal and state governments can also liaise to develop other states without reducing Lagos allowances I think both can be run simultaneously Nigeria can develop across the board If we are ready and serious But most of our leaders Especially at federal level are not serious And btw, I think we need to stop seeing each other s adversaries Or think in a mercantilism mentality (I noticed most comments on nairaland are like this) Lagos can thrive Onitsha can thrive Port Harciurt can thrive Etc All at the same time One can gain without being at the expense of another side Blaxk people in general should stop thinking that way |
| Re: Lagos Leads As States’ Mid-Year IGR Hits ₦849.12 Billion by Nobody: 12:01pm On Nov 09, 2021 |
DOTian:Rather, Lagos State should stop giving FG money so that it can develop itself. Lagos will remit say 400bn to the centre, only for it to receive like 200bn after redistribution. Why did you think states like Lagos, Rivers, Ogun, etc want to stop the remittance of VAT to the Federal Government? |

| Re: Lagos Leads As States’ Mid-Year IGR Hits ₦849.12 Billion by Nobody: 12:06pm On Nov 09, 2021 |
chukwugoziegi:most of it goes to the Federal government, which then redistribute the wealth so that states with weaker economies can survive, at least. Lagos State will generate 400bn and remit to government, only to receive 200bn back. And people will still be shouting. It's not fair on Lagos. Plus, there's no state that's not inherently corrupt. It's just that some states government don't even have money to steal to start with. They can't afford to. |

helinues:Before celebrating, what this means is that averagely each South Western state apart from Lagos generated 23.6b naira in the whole of 6 months. That's not good enough. Can that even take care of their wage bills in that period |
