This is a responsible move by the university authorities

Not sure many people actually read the memo to see the reason for the ban: reckless driving that puts lives at risk

And the University didn’t even really "ban" students from driving cars. They are still free to drive - OUTSIDE the campus premises

They won’t drive recklessly outside campus? The ban is archaic and ill conceived. While not install speed limit on campus and impound vehicles of anyone including lecturers who deter?



This is like giving a dog a bad name in other to hang it! Are all the vehicles on campus belonging to yahoo boys? What about the children of lecturers who are yahoo boys driving their father’s car, are they exempted?

This ban does not hold water, and is an infringement on the right of movement of students within campus!

Why are we making things difficult for ourselves?

You were sent to school to study and not to do uber. Keep your car out of the school premises. You dont like it then get a transfer to Another University

On the flip side if you have the funds to buy a vehicle then you have no business in school.

This is simply jealousy and bitterness taken to a high heaven, what laws say students can't own a car? As long as there is no law as such, this directive is futile at the start. And do we need to remind the university management that not all students are kids, some students are as old as the lecturers themselves. What of the part time students who are studying only in the weekends but outside the school they are business owners, managers or top executives in different organizations, is this directive applicable to them too? Nigerian university management should be made to realize that their influence over students is limited to the lecture theatres and other extra-curricular activities the students are meant to participate in, they don't have rights to dictate to students the properties they should own or how they use the same properties.

happend last semester, I don't have it tho....Those sheriffs at southgate will request u to turn around if u are a student...but most go past them as per normal drop something or familiarity level

Was there law that says students should litter schools with cars, kill and injure fellow students with their fraud proceeds?
Law is made to control environment in order to curtail future occurrence of bad past.
In summary you are not making sense with the word “Jealousy & Bitterness “ if you knw how bad students drives in schools.
