We train American soldiers in jungle warfare... Unlike Kenya that can't survive without the 7000 US soldiers deployed there, you country will be over runned by Somali riffraffs..

With the kind of inferior weapons your soldiers use when even Alshabab is using AR-15 and M16s they will take over your country in one Assault.

Kenyan forces prefer 7.62 x 51 round due to it's shear stopping power & range as compared to the less powerful 5.56 round which would be inaccurate at ranges beyond 400 meters
The HK G3 & FN SCAR H ..are some of the best battle rifles .
We are in the process of making The SCAR standard issue for all military personnel over the next few years, replacing German HK G3s and American M4 assault rifles.

If the main issue is having 7.62 type of ammunition, the Kenyan government should have opted for alternative firearms than scar h which was primarily designed as a designated marksman rifle rather than infantry rifle. Galil and Kalashnikov do have good firearms with almost same performance, kit and at a cheaper price (around $1200 per rifle without accessories compared to scar at $3200).

Precisely. Kenya doctrine is not fight with Tanzania. We reserve GSU and APS for such a job. We might fight proxy wars in DRC Congo but I dont see a direct conflict happening. In fact we prefer to trade than fight you.Maybe we can fight Ugandans - because unlike TZ - they are normally led by crazy military heads - but obviously our biggest problem remain Somalia irredentism - and maybe in distant future Ethiopia or whatever will come out of Ethiopia - maybe Oromia or Ogaden will eventually become countries.

If you check all our military bases and barrack - none really is near Tanzania or even Uganda - all are pointed north towards Somalia and Ethiopia - because we are likely to fight with them.

GSU is paramilitary - they have military training - with few units specialized - SWAT team including presidential escort and recee squad - otherwise the bulk of GSU can take on many army .

In kenya, GSU was formed to counter the Armed forces because Jomo Kenyatta was afraid the army would overthrow him like many in Africa those days as he didnt have much control. Later the APs were also trained as paramilitary unit.

Within GSU and AP are specialized units - to provide VIP protection, SWAT like Recce company that you saw in Nairobi terror attack, Cattle rustling unit, and Anti-Terror unit.

He is a joker. SCAR that KDF uses is more lethal than M16 or any other gun.

I think one FN SCAR cost 5,000 dollars - and KDF and GSU elite are the only African team to use it.
