The Nigerian Navy has confirmed to Peoples Gazette it detained popular Instagram skit maker Ahmed Gafar aka Cute Abiola, declared missing by his relatives, for violating its social media policy, IgbereTV reports.

“The young man was found to have breached the social media policy while he was on leave. So he was recalled, asked to come back, but he refused until he completed his leave which is a disobedience to particular orders,” the spokesperson for the navy, Commodore Suleman Dahun, told The Gazette.

He reiterated that Cute Abiola was not missing but locked up in his unit for breaching the “Armed Forces social media policy.”

“So, when he came back, we took him into custody for him to face the consequence,” Mr Dahun added.

Cute Abiola, a naval officer, was last seen on Monday morning after he left his residence for his office at Navy Town.

He was said to have spoken with his wife over the telephone upon arrival at the office, but several attempts to reach him afterwards were unsuccessful.

When you join the Nigerian Military, you practically sign over your life. Abiola knew this. I hope he is not buried under the sand with only his head coming out in the hot sun right now while his fans threaten brimstone online. They got some crazy disciplinary punishment for the military. My advise to the fans is to just let this pass. This is not the time to Sorosoke or insult the Naval command. Abiola signed up for this.

I have always wondered how a serving Military officer will be doing comedy skits for a living.

It is all shades of wrong and knew it was only a matter of time before authorities reason his matter.

Military work is a very sensitive job.
The only side hustle allowed is Agriculture.

I wonder why they will say he’s missing in the first place when they said he’s in the custody of Nigeria navy. My guy don break their rule and I guess that’s what he signed up for before joining the Nigeria navy.

The Navy is right on this one. There are rules of engagement so if you disobey it, you will be sanctioned. You can't post everything on social media as a military personnel.
