EFCC Flags-Off National Risk Assessment Of Non Profit Organizations by presidency(op): 10:56am On Nov 17, 2021
The EFCC, on Monday November 15, 2021 flagged-off a nationwide risk assessment of Non-profit Organizations. The programme which is a collaborative initiative of the EFCC through the Special Control Unit against Money Laundering, SCUML, and relevant stakeholders in the public and private sectors, according to the EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, is meant to determine the vulnerabilities of the organizations to money laundering and terrorism financing.

While noting the increase in Non-profit Organization activities in Nigeria especially in the North East, where the country is challenged by a humanitarian crisis created by Boko Haram, he observed that the absence of a unified comprehensive regulatory and supervisory framework for the sector remains a source of worry for the authorities. This gap, and Nigeria’s performance in the last Mutual Evaluation Exercise where the country received a non-compliant rating in FATF’s Recommendation 8, (that requires a review of the adequacy of laws and regulations that relate to Non- profit Organizations), provides the impetus for the NRA.

It is quite disheartening how Buhari has bastardized every single fabric of our national existence that he inherited from the PDP. EFCC, DSS Army, Police and other agencies that was working well under the previous administrations is now a tool to harass and hound dissenting voices. Buhari has destroyed Nigeria beyond redemption

I can't agree less to the motive behind the assessment. Great move by the EFCC. I only hope they follow through the objective of the assessment and not their personal objectives.

Anything to curb corruption is a welcome development only if you people aren't corrupt too. Before I forget; make una help me beg banks & FG to stop taking taking #50 per every money I receive! I can't be charged when someone sends me money and also he charged when I send the money out.

I know some of you won't understand this and think I'm broke for complaining about #50 but look at this example;
I had about 15 credits and 10 debits transactions yesterday, #50+4 sms charge was deducted for each of the credit transaction as stamp duty and #30 for the debits., totalling #1,110 for one(1) day alone and by one customer!!! This is stealing in pretense cry cry cry cry

My fellow Nigerians ooo, let's learn how to support good initiatives when we see one. Most entities hide under the guise of NGOs and perpetrate some mind boggling crimes and financial frauds. In some areas where there are conficts, some act as conduits for fuelling such crises and even supplying arms

Nigeria already has policy of monetary oversight of NGO against money laundering and other vices. But it's never implemented.
.
So this one is another show off, eye service, and duplication of duty.
EFCC boss should go and sleep....

It’s over due most of the so called NGO in Nigeria is either open for money launders sake or for visa insurance purposes many NGO are visa agents who use that as cover up to get cheap visa and sell to citizens because international community respect NGOs some even help politicians steal money and ferry it abroad

This is an agenda to harass people at will.

Though if they will follow right protocols, no problem. But never, especially in this period that the government doesn't respect the rule of law.

They should also beam their searchlight on activities of so called foundations owned by politicians(most especially office holders).
They could be used for money laundering activities
