Exactly, yet Nigeriams or Africans won't see it as wrong. Worst part is that same African players' names are spelt correctly in their respective clubs but spelt wrongly in country.

I've worked with few White men and one thing I noticed from them is that once something wrong is done(no matter how trivial) they will complain and tell you to do it right that they don't like it, same thing will happen and Nigerians will overlook it. Na Small small things like this make Nigeria dey the way we dey
You are very right. I’ve worked with white people almost all my life and that’s how they are but Nigerians like to overlook little things and those little stuff cause damage at the long run.

Anybody who understands English will know understand he wasn't calling Afcon "little" literally. I think the reporter was just being mischievous especially knowing Klopp is not a native speaker of English.

Here is what he said

"What I meant was, if you watch the whole press conference then you might have understood it the right way if you wanted to, because I said there are no international breaks until March now.

'I said "oh there's a little tournament in January" and I didn't mean a little tournament, I was just saying it's still a tournament, it's ironic....

This is why people always put caveat to their posts that they are only responsible for what they post and not how anybody chooses to undertand. "Little tournament" in the context he used it here suggests that between now till; march there are no international breaks (that keeps interrupting the flow of games in the league), but then he remembered oh, there will be a "brief" tournament (referring to Afcon) that will rid him of his star players for about a month.

he is not an English man. He was trying to say there is a tournament that will take a little time which will take his best players away from liverpool.

Another thought just crossed my mind...you know how there's been reports that Chelsea plan to cut Saul's loan short and send him back to Spain in January?
Well if Chilwell's injury turns out to be lengthy - even extending well into next year - then TT might consider keeping Saul till the end of the season, and playing him at LWB. I recall that's where he was playing for Atletico recently.

I'm guessing it's Alonso and Azpi for now, but don't be surprised if u see Saul there one day.

No need. That guy is wasting salary, and playing there is what made him lose his confidence at Atleti. TT has been using CHO there with no fuss when required.

It's simply an idiom used to make light of a worrisome situation like you rightly assessed

Like saying "I'm in good health, apart from the little matter of of my cancer diagnosis"

CAP.

If it was Euro's will he refer to it as 'little tournament', all those idioms, sacarcastic are just defensive okoto meow.

He could have kept the English simple, and refer to it as a 'tournament', there is literally no need to use the world 'little' for whatever reason.

But keep defending nonsense, afterall black people are inlove their slave masters cheesy cheesy cheesy/

No one would have bothered if he used the words: “there’s also the little matter of AFCON tournament in January”.

But instead, he said there’s a “little tournament” which completely means something different.

but some say nah sacarsm, another say nah idiom grin grin.

That is how u know people who didn't pass English Language at first sitting in WASSCE. To them every sentence is interpreted as per its literal meaning.

That was how I once chastised someone on this forum for forcing his opinion about his "cult-hero" on others only for him to reply me, " how do you know my hero is a cultist, mumu?" grin grin

Well good for you. I can see this is a 2019 result, maybe I'm a little bit out of touch to know that knowledge of idioms are no longer tested at the O'levels.

I mean I honestly don't know how someone who has understanding of English to the extent of having good grades like u did would ignorantly/deliberately misconstrue Klopp's statement; even when Klopp himself explained he was quoted out of context.

Well, Something tells me the reporter understands Klopp and only wants to put him on the spot so as to have a news headline people will talk about(Which we are already doing) so they can sell papers/have people click on news sites to read the full manuscript( like I did on dailymail's site)

I wonder what you think of this though.

Chelsea loaned Gilmour to Norwich, in the match of Norwich against Liverpool.

Liverpool fans aimed 'rent-boy' chants to gilmour, LGbt+ group took it as homophobic, Liverpool came out to apologize and codemn it.

Note Gilmour is not gay, neither does the chant rent-boy had anything to do with homosexuals, it just a regular english chant to mock loanees of big clubs in England.

Yet Liverpool apologized because it is literally an unnecesarry chant, and it can be interpreted in a demeaning way.

Note: they no talk say nah idiom or sarcastic or just jokes oh. cheesy

Or maybe it is because they are whites shocked shocked shocked.

I read somewhere that it's highly likely he will require surgery. According to the reports, his season will effectively be over if he does require surgery. But if he doesn't, he may come back at some point in 2022, before the season ends.

I think the problem u are having here is that u see everything from the perspective of black vs white and this affects ur judgement of situations; hence u end up comparing apples to oranges then cover it up with emojis.

I mean u just pointed out a situation that involves thousands of fans that can’t be asked individually to explain what they mean by the “rent boys “ chant against Gilmour. The club did the honourable to apologize to avoid reduction in revenue that may arise when the fans who feel offended by the chant stop buying tickets.

Klopp on the other hand was queried about his statement and he explained he was quoted out of context ; which should be enough for anybody that is not being mischievous and trying to find problem where there none. Klopp has said his piece , whoever is not satisfied can then do whatever they please .
