I think it's a bug infestation. They bore holes in the tree to lay eggs or something like that and bring out wood dusts. I remember seeing it happen to my orange tree. Didn't act on time and the orange died.

Do ask around in any Agro shop for for a solution lest it kills the tree.

I might be wrong in your case though.
