Hardcore bandit will comes from the jobless educated youth roaming around the street. A few words is enough for the long-sighted leaders. Nigeria is already beyond elastic limit in fact at the last limit of breaking point. |

Nigeria is a failed state. The Nigerian army is useless, it unable to deal with bokoharam. The problem of Nigeria is that there is no law, people are selling on the street without paying tax, many shops are not paying tax, many employers are not paying tax . Many people don’t have identity numbers. How do you expect a government to win against bokaharam if the country is lawless. They must learn from South Africa |

DOTian:Had he tried to stop Yerima, there would have been a civil war similar to the ongoing war in Ethiopia, and the North would have easily won the war. The fact that despite the introduction of Sharia, corruption and underdevelopment hasn't ended in the North, it is even worse, confirming that is religion is not the solution to Nigeria problem. Obasanjo was right. The people that you should blame are the 12 Northern states that instigated the introduction of political Sharia, refusal to invest in children education, neglect of the rural regions and finally girl child marriage. |

sulaak:Civil war? North would have easily won? Because it's their birthright to win wars or what? How exactly will that have led to a war if handled smartly? So whatever the North wants it gets because we're afraid of wars the the gods have destined them to always win? Do you even understand that it was Obasanjos lack of action against yerima in Zamfara that emboldened other northern State governors to follow suit and declare Sharia? Ahbegii... |

DOTian:I dont understand, he should have killed Yerima? He should stop a state governor from practicing Sharia? The Zamfara people that wanted sharia are they fools? Is it not Buhari that was on the fore-front of the fight for the spread of Sharia? Have you blamed him? When South west wanted to start amotekun could Buhari have stopped them? If the north wanted to destroy themselves with sharia how is that Obj's fault? The north brought sharia, sharia subsequently brought Boko haram and banditry, please how is that Obj's fault. |

What baba Obj is saying is very correct. Northerners are the problem of this nation despite the fact out 61 years of Nigeria independence, Hausa / Fulani had ruled for 47 years. While South had tasted power just for 14 years. It is very sad in deed to note the leadership from the north has not helped in solving problem of education among there people. Whereas all these so called northern leaders send their own children to be schooling abroad using government resources at the expense of the general public they governed. When former president Chief Olusegun Obasanjo came to power as a civilian president in 1999 the first bill he sent to National Assembly to passed into law is Universal Basic Education ( UBE). In a nut she'll, what this bill is all about is to give opportunity to the children of the poor or less previledge in our society to have access to free education up to primary 6. In fact, he launched this program in the north so that northerners would be the first to benefit and enjoy the program before it was introduced in the southwest and other geo political zones. Since UBE was passed into law by the Nigeria legislators, the program enjoy special funding from the federation account. On monthly basis federal government allocated billions of naira to the UBE but northerners leadership refused to implement this program to the latter till date. Former president Goodluck Johnathan also introduced Almajari schools in the north built standard class rooms, school hostels, feeding e.t.c. purposely for the poor people among them. Since Jonathan left power over 6 years ago, the Almajari schools has become a shadow of itself simply because government in power is not interested in funding the Almajari schools even despite being a northerners. It is their leaders that doesn't want them to be educated simply because if those boys is able to go to school, they can't used them to course trouble whenever they need them. But they had forgotten that " A poor man's child you refused to be educated would eventually become problem to your own children that was educated. Our late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo said why I introduced free education in Western region is because " I don't want my driver's children to become my children drivers. He also said " I don't want my gudiner's children to become my children guiners ". There so many hausa people including former CBN governor and emir of Kano sanusi lamido that had speaking against given birth to so many children without proper planning and adequate provisions in terms of health, education e.t.c on the part of there leadership. In fact, the was dethroned because is telling the northern leaders a bitter truth. So I don't know what there leaders are doing but because of wickedness, selfishness and greed they refuse to send children of less previledge to school in the north. Definitely baba Obasanjo was right in his just prophesied. |

Obj you are also part of Nigeria's problems and stop being a saint. Insecurity is a problem of the Northwest and North East nigeria only. When south west parents are sending their children to school and hand skills learning institute, when south eastern parents are sending their children to school, and also taking them to learn trading and business. The northern elites designed almajiris system for the core northern state children of the poor. Go and do evaluation of the results now, the igbo tribe is the most successful tribe both inside Africa and other parts of the world, followed by the yorubas. The igbo and yoruba tribe can compete with any race at the world stage effectively. The almajiris system has graduated sabotaging resources all over the country. It has now metamorphosed into various social vices that is disturbing the peace of the greedy , corrupt leaders that created them. President goodluck jonathan built enough schools for them but the destroyed everything. Let the north face its own consequence and stop disturbing my peace in the south. |

huptin:Stop providing cheap excuses for some utterly incompetent politicians. Obasanjo was not forced to take over. He campaigned vigorously to be president. Constitutionally , Nigeria is a secular state! So if a State governor starts to impose a sectarian religion on his state, as the commander in chief with all the coercive instruments of the state at his beck and call, Obasanjo should have taken actions to stop that. He dropped the ball there because he was selfish and a northern slave! That's the blunt fact.. |

DOTian:He campaigned for it? Does the president have the power to stop states from practicing whatever they want to practice under a federal set up? I don't get it are you supporting illegality just because he campaigned for it? 19 northern states simultaneously launched sharia and you want the president to launch a war on all of them? Isn't that impossible? Why didn't Buhari launch a war on the southwest governors to stop Amotekun? The president simply have no such powers! The same you will blame Obasanjo for withholding Lagos local government funds when Tinubu created 37 new local governments saying it is illegal, the same you want Obasanjo to stop state governments from practicing sharia, aren't you confusing yourself? |

huptin:Is this country still a secular state as enshrined in the constitution if one of the constituent states can whimsically impose her preferred religion as the state religion!? Is that how federalism works in your own dictionary? |

DOTian:Unfortunately so. Check the constitution there is actually a provision for sharia there. After all people went to court to challenge the legality of sharia and were surprised that some how it was actually indirectly smuggled into our constitution. Nigeria is a member of the Organisation of Islamic Community is Nigeria a Muslim country? Your guess is as good as mine. |

DOTian:Right now they control all the instruments of war, finance, military weapons and the majority of senior officers. The South need to reclaim the presidency and change the security architect by empowering state police and regional security army. Chief, if OBJ reacted the same issue in Ethiopia would have happened in Nigeria. Sometimes you need to be patient and assertive. |
