How’s that your business? And why haven’t you found just one person. I mean just one person in the richest and most populous region in the country? Mumu people. Some months to go and you don’t have a candidate yet. Are you not ashamed? And don’t say you are not Igbo because that’s stale. |

The politicians grip on its citizens is tight. They are into politics for financial gains and not to develop their constituent. An Akinwumi candidacy ought to be a solution for the betterment of Nigerians and Nigeria but, alas, the competitive stealing being practiced by those politicians will not allow Akinwumi to emerge as a candidate for the party. |

Akinwumi? That one is too far. Lots of decent characters they can front if the yorubas have any serious interest in fixing Nigeria. The Akinwumi guy proved his mettle at The Ministry of Agriculture under Obasanjo. Reasonably decent and marketable. But they won't bring him in. The same reason they won't bring in the current Vice President Osibanjo. Warts and all, many Nigerians still have reasonable respect for Osibanjo, especially due to the way he has acted whenever Buhari was away. Very erudite, though beholden to clannish pulls sometimes. If the yorubas want to make an easy case for the presidency, Osibanjo should have been the character... But they don't want that! They never mention those names anymore. You have to pity the man Osibanjo.. Even ministers from the South West like the loudmouthed Fashola and their owambe governors are already talking about the "Al Capone" abi the Pablo Escobar of Nigerias politics- Tinubu while Osibanjo is there like an orphan! The reason is very simple; they are not interested in building this fake country! Their much vaunted patriotism is fake too. They're only interested in looting down the country and can NEVER trust reasonably "erudite intellectuals" like akinwumi or Osibanjo to do the job as ruthlessly clinical as Buhari! They want a proven thief to loot for them! It's a "loot I loot" democracy, remember? |

He is not a thief so he cannot steal enough to go round their tribe...Or you do not know that in Nigeria, nationhood is all about stealing. He who will steal enough for their tribe is projected. Are they seeking leadership to make the country progress? No. It is all about stealing natural resources. The tribes that have none steal most. So it is not about good governance. They just want someone that will steal for their tribe the way they're watching Fulani steal for theirs and the right candidate? Your guess is as good as mine. |

Op, to answer your questions, you need to understand the political process in a democracy. Candidates emerge through political parties. And to stand a chance the candidate needs to be a member of the party he is vying under. The only way Adesina can emerge as a candidate to stand in any election is through a political party (it doesn't even have to be APC or PDP, though those two major parties stand the best chances in the political space). And even if he's a member of the party, he needs to win the trust of majority of his fellow party members. Note that I said party members, not the general public, because it is the party members that decide who to select to represent their party on election day. The public/voters only gets a say on election day, after the political party would have selected a candidate to represent it through internal mechanisms. This is the reason why often times some individuals perceived by the some sections of the public to be 'best qualified' for political office usually don't emerge or even run for office in democracies, because such folks are either not interested in politics, or do not have enough political capital to win the nomination of the party they belong to. Political parties have to consider a lot of factors before selecting a candidate to fly their ticket. Typically, parties prefer candidates who can appeal to the most important voting blocs in the election in question. E.g, while the candidacy of Peter Obi may appeal to certain sections of the country, his party may still deny him the ticket if it feels he lacks support and isn't marketable in critical regions or voting blocs. It's now left for that candidate to either change that perception within his party, or forget vying for the position. This is why folks like Peter Obi, Adesina (if he were an APC or PDP member) , or even Akeredolu, may not get their party ticket to run for the presidency for example. |

Investigative:It’s about understanding the game and positioning yourself to take power, accordingly. If the likes of Peter Obi or Adesina want to rule this country, they'll have to dine with the good, the bad, and the ugly of politics (not as if they're 'saints' themselves). No two ways about it. Soludo was smart enough to understand the game and he positioned himself accordingly; first by joining APGA, and then adopting the mannerisms of a typical politician and politics within his local environment. That's what a serious person that wants power does. Don't hate the player, hate the game. |

I always laugh when the Ibos throw Akinwumi name out like they will vote him if the Yoruba produce him. You guys failed to vote Awolowo twice even when he has a better profile and record as an administrator compared to Shagari of those days or Akinwumi of this day. I can bet everything, if Akinwumi were to contest against Atiku, he will lose woefully in the SE because the Ibos will vote PDP Atiku over him. So what exactly is all this Akinwumi noise for? |
