Yes they did better. Malawi suprised me. They neighbor TZ but know almost nothing about kenya. Kenya education is very high quality. In class 7 or grade 7 were were expected to basically knowing almost everything about Africa - each subject - geography, history, etc - we did in-depth study of Africa. 1st topic you needed to know all 52 Africa countries and their capital city. We spend days gramming crazy cities like Burkinafaso ougadogadou - but we had to know all of them. We had to know all independence struggle - we could recite all ANC struggles - go all the way to Ben Ali of Algeria - the battle of Adawa of Ethiopa. All the 52 countries and their political history. Then the geography - you studied Atlas mountains - of Morocco - name it - we studied it. Somali then was leading country in banana production. We did minerals...economic activities.

If there is something Kenya has historically gotten right - it got to be education.

These are common primary kids question in Kenya - West African high school kids cannot answer 3/4 of them.

As for next election - I think 2010 constitution (heavily borrowed from South Africa) - has set strong foundations - with generally strong institutions - so I think it going to be okay. Already we had Africa 1st sitting president re-election annulled - not for rigging - but for procedural election issues. Our judiciary is pretty strong. Yes they did better. Malawi suprised me. They neighbor TZ but know almost nothing about kenya. Kenya education is very high quality. In class 7 or grade 7 were were expected to basically knowing almost everything about Africa - each subject - geography, history, etc - we did in-depth study of Africa. 1st topic you needed to know all 52 Africa countries and their capital city. We spend days gramming crazy cities like Burkinafaso ougadogadou - but we had to know all of them. We had to know all independence struggle - we could recite all ANC struggles - go all the way to Ben Ali of Algeria - the battle of Adawa of Ethiopa. All the 52 countries and their political history. Then the geography - you studied Atlas mountains - of Morocco - name it - we studied it. Somali then was leading country in banana production. We did minerals...economic activities.

If there is something Kenya has historically gotten right - it got to be education.

These are common primary kids question in Kenya - West African high school kids cannot answer 3/4 of them.

As for next election - I think 2010 constitution (heavily borrowed from South Africa) - has set strong foundations - with generally strong institutions - so I think it going to be okay. Already we had Africa 1st sitting president re-election annulled - not for rigging - but for procedural election issues. Our judiciary is pretty strong. The police criminal investigation head has just be jailed like zuma for contempt of court.

That's democratic progress indeed . I now remember the annulment of the last elections, almost forgot.

As for African education, #RhodesMustFall.and #FeesMust Fall called for the decolonization of SA education - I don't know how much things have changed since.

Yeah, I noticed most people were pretty offended by Malawi's lack of knowledge regarding Kenya . Those same people also didn't mention SA much when asked about their ideal African country unlike with Zimbabweans where SA declared a whitewash
