NASS should mobilise themselves, ensure they have 2/3rd in support of the Electoral Bill as it is and pass it without President's consent to become a law.

NASS should for once show that they are the lawmakers..not the executives
Bro forget it, they won’t do anything. If a stubborn Saraki didn’t get the NASS to override the president the last time is it a loyalist like Lawan that will do so?

We told them but naysaers do not understand.
How can you conduct such an election? Not feasible and self-serving.
Buhari has acted without partisan on this and it is commendable. You do not make laws for sake one individual's selfish ambitiom. Nigeria is not LASHA.

The powers to make laws for the Federation lies with the National Assembly. Direct primaries are what obtains in the United States where we borrowed the Presidential system of government. The Governors who are greedy wants to control their states and also the Federal.
I urge the National Assembly to summon the courage to overide the president. If they fail, they are the losers because their Governors already penciled them down for destruction.
During Obasanjo time, the National Assembly overide him on the NDDC Bill.

I bet it was Goodluck Jonathan that overthrew the democratically elected government of Shehu Shagari
That coup was actually planned by multiple personalities led by ibb.bibu knew but did not actively partake just like or ironsi knew of the 1966 nzeogwu coup but was silent or how Gowon knew of the counter coup

Compulsory direct primaries for all political parties is not feasible. Its the handiwork of vested interest within APC. Tinubu think he can use Gbajabiamila and Ahmed Lawal to armtwist the process in his favour. The cabals are on his case every step of the way
. Tinubu can still achieve his aim through the National Assembly as they have the constitutional power to override the President if he vetoes a bill

He has returned the bill most likely.....

These challenges form the main hreason for my disapproval, otherwise it is far better. He won't touch that bill, remove that item and he will look into it.
But signing it is not a big issue afterall when inec wanted to introduce technology into our polls,we warned them of the mounting challenges but here we are

The President do not have the powers to remove any item of that Bill. He can only return it to them and ask them to take it out.

Direct Primaries is the sole issue of contention.

A well known coup plotter and an election rigger like Buhari will never support electoral reform
. His handlers like Malami will never allow him sign it because it would make them lose grip of power. The only thing that they need to tell him for him to reject it is to tell him that it doesn't favor the fulanis and north.

That doesn't matter boy.or are you telling me that obj was part of the dimka coup just because he became head of state? For a coup to be fully successful, the most senior army officer must become head of state if not it will likely fail.that is why nzeogwu, dimka, orkar coups failed.

No surprises there...after all, Uzodinjo and Bulhari are both products of election malpractices.

When will people realize that nothing good can come out of the mannequin and his maladministration?
This decision is the right one in my opinion. Democracy demands that you allow individual political parties to decide whether they want to go the route of direct or indirect primaries. Forcing it down every political party's throat is wrong. Buhari is still an idiot by the way

....insisting that parties’ supremacy and rights to opt for direct or indirect primaries must not be tampered with.

I no like these BMC people, but I agree with you. It's undemocratic for the national assembly to enforce this rule on all political parties

I’m so happy!

Tinubu’s game plan to force Direct Primaries into our electoral act so that he can use Lagos Direct Primary template to win APC ticket has been rubbished.

Fools were tactically positioning the argument to seem as if they are fighting for the people... telling us how they want to take power out of the moneybags. Trashy talk!

The instances of Direct Primaries in Lagos and Anambra has demonstrated how stupid it can and how it is not insulated to manipulations of same moneybags.

So why waste more money, manpower and resources on something that has its own flaws too; if not more?

Direct Primaries will be chaotic, too expensive and parties have no adequate register to ensure transparency which makes the entire venture a stupid one.

I support Buhari on this one.
Well, I still see Tinubu winning without direct primaries. The thief has played his cards very well

Aside the legal perspective, how about the fact that it will be chaos, expensive and non transparent?

It should never have been suggested in the first.
Lol. Parties still use this means to elect candidates. Buhari's a product of direct primaries
