The owner brought the car in around 2020 and was asking for ridiculous price.

Now he begging people to pick it up for ₦5m.

The same car he advertised for ₦6.5m last year.

If people give themselves brain and wait, dealers would adjust.

UK placed a heavy quarantine on Nigerians. Imagine that some Nigerians have started traveling and encouraging UK to continue that policy.

When you do sit and wait, things would normalize

I should be closing a deal for 2009 Corolla sport this week. The only issue with the car is the alternator and the kick starter. Those parts are ordered via ebay and it will be fix in Nigeria .....

I import quite a number of things and can't tell you that the exaggeration is high.

Yes, exchange rate us high, customs clearing duty is also high, but sellers have also raised prices astronomically taking advantage.

10 to 20% profit margin is not bad after cost price, but what we have now is close to 50% margin if not more.

A relative just brought in a car from Canada

Bought at Auction for $7500 (CAD) * ₦450
Shipping @ ₦600,000
Clearing @₦1,200,000
Total approximately ₦5.2million.

Similar car is advertised on Jiji for ₦6.5m to ₦6.7m

However, a business, any business, must consider the following to ascertain profit margin:

- cost of funds (interest rate is what please?)
- location rent
- staff salaries (sales reps, security, admin)
- insurance
- advertisement
- tax (FIRS, state revenue, LGA revenue, agbero)
- profit margin
- etc

Can 10% (or even 20%) can cover for the above, your guess is as good as mine

Like the example of the car I gave, total cost including 'bribing' etc is ₦5.3m. But similar cars on Jiji starts from ₦6.5m.

Assuming we bought to sell, ₦5.7m to ₦6m would not be bad for a car that cost ₦5.3m

Selling price in business means cost price plus profit margin.

10 to 20% profit is what's added to the cost price, which is more than enough. But most dealers (not only car sales) now capitalize to make close to 50%.

Look at the soaring gas prices. I consult in that industry. If I tell you the profit that gas sellers make on selling 12.5kg gas now, you'll be shocked. Guess what, they'll all come out to tell you, it's the government and that their profit is small blablabla.

It's just business and taking advantage of the system

This car has zero rust it is a 2008 sports, and is sitting comfortably in Lagos Nigeria.

Buy and drive off you do not have to wait till 2022 for delivery.

Apart from your stated seller in faraway canada pls show me any seller that will sell at the price you have stated
