Yes Frankfurt was the first major European league club that he played for . I think he was first signed by a German lower division club after he sought to train with them when he went to Germany to visit a friend. Frankfurt signed him from that club.

His move to Turkey was not based of form or loss of quality, he shared his view on some religion issues and it wasn’t good for Arsenal, investors threaten to cut their investments so Arsenal had to part way with him. Turkey is a Muslim country so it’s a good destination for him
