There are parameters used to compare cities or countries so people's personal opinions on social media can't be absolute.

Whet or not it joburg is a construction site or not will never make Nairobi come close to it. Nairobi needs Atleast 50 years in all honesty to match joburg and that means joburg will ground to a halt during this period.

I just saw Pretoria and nothing in Nairobi gives me that feel. If it did I am probably sure this thread would have ended a long time a ago and this endless argument would have been tossed aside.

Popultion growth rate of Nairobi is almost 4% and it's accelerating. It's almost 5m in 10 years it may be double. If that's not pressure I don't know

Modernity is definitely not sprawling mess like you got in West Africa. Skyscrapers and tall building are efficient use of urban space. Our population will be 100M by 2050 or about. We cannot build a city using Switz model. And tall buildings can be green, modern and energy efficient name it.

Constructing a mere flyover and making noise about it is not construction boom. I can list more than ten locations in Lagos with complex flyover and overpass construction. Actually the red line trains that is supposed to cause a fuss isnt. Everyone seems to be quiet about it and construction is moving like a speed of light.
