We will eventually win....we are pursuing them in Kenya and London. Unilver are trying to offload their tea business - but the buyers have been made away - they could lose it.

Kericho governor Paul Chepkwony and his Bomet counterpart Joyce Laboso have already commenced the process of repossessing the lands as they push for compensation from the British government over the atrocities meted on their people by colonialists.

The two are pursuing compensation from the British government on behalf of Kipsigis and Talai communities who were forced out of their land by the whites between 1920 and 1924.

In a recent meeting with MCAs attended by lawyer Kimutai Bosek representing the two counties, Laboso said they would soon dispatch surveyors to the farms to establish the exact acreage of the tea estates.

According to Bosek, the firms own up to 200, 000 hectares but insist it is 89, 000 hectares only.
you can't win when they have the right to won properties and Kenya land ownership laws make it impossible for your own citizens to own lands.

Dont disingenuous - we already know that gold is like 40-50 percent of your gov revenues - but where is evidence that 90 percent smugglers who refuse to pay withholding taxes - paid other taxes.

Now you earn 7.2 billion U.S. dollars - I bet if we check what South African earn from gold - it's more than you - and they produce less.

Should we check?

Just30:
Take er...I even undervalued it
The Ghanaian govt makes 7.2 billion dollars from Gold.

The land they own is not even 10 percent of Kericho-Bomet counties. Kenya own freehold titledeed. Foreigners own lease hold of 99yrs.

Question is - when is Asanti kingdom deploying lawyers to sue London for making you pay 76B dollars in pure gold bars to stop them sitting on the golden stool smiley smiley

That is open and shut case smiley

If I check what kentatta and cohorts are stealing from the kenyan treasury, it is more than the gold Ghana sells. Should we check?

We just need to compare gov revenues from gold in South Africa and Ghana to understand the depth of the hole that smugglers have dug in Ghana.

Just one Indian dude was found smuggling 18M dollars. Imagine how many those chinese and indians make per annum smiley smiley

Dubai claims at least 17B dollars from Africa doesnt match official export records (smuggled) - with about half coming from Ghana. You're losing 10B dollars worth of gold to Dubai alone.

How is how much Ghana is losing from gold theft the biggest concern of a starving, ill-informed, frustrated kenyan when your own government is stealing far far more than what you claim is being stolen from Ghana? people are starving to death in that pathetic zoo called kenya, and you are more concerned about gold theft in Ghana? grin china is even threatening to seize that armpit country grin chai

except gold is not 40 to 50% of govt revenue.. grin grin

Don't be desperate

These are the taxes on gold mining..
Govt of Ghana has 10% of everything mined..
There is 5% on royalties on what is mined.
The mining operate is taxed at 35% on operation.
18.57 dollars per acre to the land owner on lease.
3% witholding tax...

Ashanti does not need to do anything

The land owned by the Brits is forever theirs and they pay no lease as it is freehold...

They usually do community outreach by paying some small amount to the community as their corporate social responsibility..

Kenya has explore oil for 10 years already ...
What has it use all that money for?

Why is it that 87% of Kenya revenue comes from Loans?

@mkenya2019

Basically begging IMF, WB and China for money every year to keep your country going.
Kenya owes almost 80 billion dollars which is one of the highest on the continent .. while govt revenue remains 15 billion dollars.

How are you guys going to pay back, especially considering the fact that you guys wasted the money on debt making business and unprofitable stuff?

We are pursuing the three global conglomerates owning our tea farms - but for your slavery, GOLDEN STOOL - 76B dollars and slavery - when will you get JUSTICE

Acting for the aggrieved shareholders of Unilever Tea Kenya and sister company Limuru Tea, the Society of Black Lawyers warned that should the sale continue the new owners of the business would fully bear the liability that Unilever seeks to dodge through the disposal.

“In the event that you decide to proceed with this purchase we will hold you fully liable for any failure to follow the appropriate regulatory framework, and any failure to adhere to the rights of tea workers, according to national and international law that will become your full liability,” reads a letter signed by the Black Lawyer’s chairman, Judge (Rtd) Peter Herbert.

Unilever chief executive Alan Jope on November 18 announced that the company had struck a deal to dispose of its global tea business called Ekaterra, worth Sh571.2 billion ($5.1 billion), a move that leaders in South Rift counties of Kericho and Bomet where 70 percent of the tea farms sit have protested.
Glad to hear! Last Sunday I was at one of those places you drive past at LEAST twice weekly for a decade with no interest of stopping by cause you KNOW its NOT your place.
In-laws invited all of us to Brackenhurst, the American Baptist owned retreat on Limuru road. It's on at LEAST 300 ac incl one forests. My elder sis' BF husband an ex St Mary's Westlands informed me Saints and neighbouring Msongari sit on over 500 ac. In the area you'd be lucky to pay 3.5 mn $ per.
Imagine how much FKn money the Holy Ghost Fathers and Loreto Sisters are sitting on!? Some might say its actually the Vatican in charge- immaterial imo. There's a looooonngggg overdue convo to be had and action taken over colonial and Christian orgs land ownership In Kenya; SPECIFICALLY HOW EXACTLY SAID LAND WAS ACQUIRED!
I'm happy your guys are awake: Finlay know they're in ISHYT so I'm happy you've put out a caveat. I CAN'T find anything on THEIR yearly profits but they produce 28mn kg of green leaf annually at minimum 2$ per.
For far too long the descendants of land grabbers and colonizers have enjoyed the fruits of their ancestors crimes while the descendants of their victims quietly accept minimum wages and praise the status quo in the name of capitalism and democracy.

They assume they can play hardball and win. Hmmmph!

The governor targets to raise at least Sh1 billion annually from multinationals operating in the county through land rates, with the firms estimated to hold about 800,000 acres under 99-year leases.

Multinational tea companies, according to Chepkwony, currently pay Sh300 per acre of land per annum.

Keep me posted: in fact update us regularly here.

Edit: Seen this?

Nairobi — A clan which lost 2,577 acres of its ancestral land to missionaries nearly a century ago has taken the Government and the Catholic Church to court demanding back its heritage.

The descendants of Ndiuni wa Murathimi clan who signed off the prime land at Mathari in Nyeri municipality have filed a suit at the High Court in Nairobi.
[url][https://allafrica.com/stories/200502080204.htmlurl]

THEY did receive some of their lands back though.

The Catholic Church has agreed to surrender 600 acres of land to villagers in Nyeri who sued it for eviction during the Mau Mau war in a landmark decision that could help others uprooted from their homes during the fight for Independence to get property back

More of us across the formerly colonised world here in Africa, Fiji, the Solomons everywhere else Blacks were dispossessed and left holding bibles bleating, " I love white Jesus !" This repossession SHOULD be a GLOBAL priority.

Mkenya2019:
SImple. The British should compensate us for colonialism and leave our land. The land is not owned by them. It's a community land and they pay lease on it. However they own the tea and factories around there.

We have our own tea and factories.

They already compensate Mau Mau with 20M dollars for war atrocities.

Now back to you - what is the plan for Slavery and Coloniliasm restitution in West Africa.

At least we are complaining and have sued them.
You are complaining, of what good is your complaints when the same wicked act still occur till today.

And wtf is 20m. That is very cheap and mediocre. I am disappointed for lack of a better word.

And pls go scream slavery to French West African colony not Nigeria.

Accra -tema motorways is about 20km

Pls which of this road can be said to be more quality than the other?

Your comments are always inducing migraine. How does quality of roads translates to length of road? Can't you have a single thing better than my multiple ones? Without checking South Africa got more paved roads than Namibia but those of Namibia are in more superior quality than that of south Africa. don't just argue for the sake of it, argue to learn and accept to move on when cornered with facts and figures.
there's no superior quality between the roads. It's all about wear and tear, How often the roads are used.

It's a good thing you are questioning the validity of that list because even light research shows apart SA and Morocco the rest barely have up to 15% paved roads. Mauritius that featured doesn't even have up 4000 kilometers of road network. I think it's a case of Those countries projecting their best side and expertly hiding their dodgy underbelly which Kenya has a PhD in.

If Nigeria only showcased the roads you see in movies shown on ROK we would also lie that we have the best road network in Africa.

You don't even need to tell me that Ghana has a great road network simply using google earth proved your assertion but guess what I saw when I looked at Kenya grin

That's how they lied they have almost complete electricity coverage if not for Kazikazi and those night time NASA pictures.

Lied about having one of the busiest ports on the continent but a visit to the maritime shipping website revealed all grin

Anyway, piling work for phoenix tower in eko Atlantic city started yesterday.

All skycrapers and even bridges constructed in Lagos has to be piled cos Lagos has a poor soil formation. Reason the govt made a height restriction of 100m max height order in the early 2000. I think eko Atlantic is beating that because it's 3m higher in elevation than Lagos city itself.

By now I am sure you've finished your forest cover.

About 2 million acres of rainforest has been cleared for mining. Currently only about 12% of the country rainforest remains (Akpalu and Parks

who needs forest when we have to make our people rich ...

Beautiful thing about Ghana lands, it takes six months to regrow an entire forest ....

We don't practice open surface mining to clear 2 million acres, The largest contributor to clearing of forest is Agriculture and followed by residential development.

Worry about the lands that are no more yours... After 50 years, your country has resold itself into slavery and colonialism..

Your people are being displaced left right and center through land grabs.. almost half the arable lands in your country is held by foreign companies and govt on freehold.

Poverty is endemic in Ghana. The chinese are now doing the final damage on the few remaining forest and poisoning rivers with mercury. This is a Nigeria like tragedy. You will be left with empty pits and poison land. Gold and diamond remember are not renewable.

As for Kenya - Africa best HCI - we dont need natural resources - we got our brains.

Ghana has one of the highest deforestation rates in Africa and the world, at 2% per annum.
