The Nigerian Army has detained the unnamed female Private soldier who publicly accepted a viral marriage proposal from a male corps member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Kwara State.
The Army confirmed that the female soldier was placed under arrest since the recorded public proposal which took place at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Yikpata, Kwara State went viral on Social Media.

Following reports it was gathered that the romantic event actually took place at the Passing Out Parade (POP) of Batch B, Stream 2 of the 2021 Corp Members on Tuesday.

It was, however, learnt that under the Terms and Conditions of Service in the Army, every recruit must stay single for the first three years of service, meaning that marriage is banned for such category of personnel.

In the now viral video, the Corp Member is seen on his knees, asking for the female soldier’s hand in marriage, amidst cheers from other visibly excited Corp members in the background.

When has accepting a marriage proposal made one a married person?! They only got engaged not married. They can live happily together or apart engaged and get married after the 3yrs. So why detain her when the rule didn't state engagement is not allowed?

She broke the protocol and she gat to face it.. simple as that..

Of course the terms and conditions are same other countries. The terms stipulate that a female recruit is to stay single for the first 3yrs from the time of recruitment. She only accepted to marry him, and not that they exchanged vows. She's still single till they take their vows. That can wait till after 3yrs.

The bolded and Makin a video of it while on duty with the "military uniform" I think are the reasons she was detained..
