Please stop encouraging this N200 stuff. It's the reason they misbehave. They have all become entitled and there has been a lot of casualties (deaths). Policemen are paid salaries. If it's not enough for them, they can resign. There are many more unemployed people willing to take their posts.

You have obviously never sponsored your flight before, reason you reason this shallow. All fingers are not equal, and hence road transport will always exist to accommodate those who can't afford air. Channel your bigotry to the government who should provide a sane climate for her citizens.

Presently at Ore. Left almost 6am. Check point are many but I have just "spent" N100 so far at one check point. Many vehicles are taking one way to evade check points but I did not, its risky. But policemen in some checkpoints are cooperating by not delaying vehicles.

Watch the road and your gauge cluster carefully as you drive two signs you’d never want to see are an overheating engine and low oil pressure signs. These two signs are not dangerous to your health but can make you sleep on the road and pay heavily for a tow truck

To dodge real danger to your health and safety -

Keep your speed moderate and reduce it when it rains. Indulging in races is a recipe for disaster

Your tyres really matter so make sure they’re all in good condition and you have a functional spare with the tools needed for an emergency change

Give cars ahead of you enough distance so if they’re involved in an emergency you can evade them on time

If you’re driving at night on unfamiliar roads follow the car in front of you tyre for tyre by observing their taillights so you know when to swerve or slow down

Don’t drag lane with trucks on the roads or at holdups or checkpoints. They will bash you happily and you can’t fight them

Eat light and drink more. It’s better to stop to urinate than shit

If possible don’t travel alone and if you’re sleepy find somewhere to park and sleep for only 30minutes and continue your journey. The sleep will run away till further notice. Don’t drink anything or chew kola as it isn’t as effective as the sleep itself no matter how short it was

Don’t drive directly behind trucks as their tyres can pick up and fling debris onto your windshield

Don’t force forcefully to overtake especially while on high speed or in a one way lane

If your car unfortunately breaks down clear properly off the road and use your caution signs and hazard lights

Don’t argue with police

very important point for real "you not in speeding competition with anyone" the goal is to get to your destination safe and sound, not to get there first, another awesome point.. Never follow bumper to bumper, if you noticed anyone doing that to you, slow down a bit allow him to carry his wahala and go

Yes you can also chew kolanut or alligator pepper and such too.

But if after everything you catch your self dozing just ONCE ON STEERING my brother just try to park and find somewhere to sleep deeply for just 30 minutes. You can tell someone to time you and wake you up the sleep timer starts once you start snoring and not when your eyes close

It's expected....a normal Tuesdays gridlock after Mondays sit at home in the east. So sorry about that. Journey mercies all the way.
I will advice people that wants to enter the east from Lagos to either sleep over in Asaba or Onitsha and continue the journey the next day.
And if you are coming in from Abj, pls kindly use Enugu to avoid head Bridge wahala.
Journey mercies to us all.

I got home around 9:15pm yesterday. The traffic was crazy. Spent more than 4hrs just from where they are constructing a new flyover at Asaba to Niger Bridge, a distance of about 2 or 3km. I entered another traffic jam at Upper Iweka till Zik round about. After the round about, the road was free. It was very hectic. Lots of trucks and commercial buses, their drivers think private car drivers do not know how to drive so will always try to bully them. It was fun at times driving like you are high on something grin especially on that traffic jam.

I left home 6am and got to the village 9:15pm(15hrs).

My uncle who joined a public transport got home 12:30am this morning. Someone who is travelling to Lagos this morning told me that the traffic at Niger Bridge is still there.

My candid advice for anyone travelling the Eastern route this period should try and leave as early as possible, make sure your headlamps are bright enough. If you are going by public transport then choose a known transport company in case you have to sleep over at their park. For people travelling to Akwa Ibom or Calabar, you can break the journey, which ever way, you will run into that heavy traffic at Niger Bridge.

I forgot to mention one of my headlamps failed. When it was dark, it became more challenging. Fortunately I had a spare so when I got to Nkpor, I bought some fuel(a lot of fuel wasted on that traffic), I replaced the headlight bulb and continued.
