There is a quiet movement slowly forming in the NC, whereby those who are tired of the NC merely playing second fiddle are beginning to rightfully make noise and demand justice.

Bello is just one of many, but he is an ally and very vocal, and due to his prominent position his views are more readily to be published. That being said, I personally don't support his particular candidacy, but support the message to end marginalization of the NC, which is the only region to not be in close proximity to power since our democracy took flight.

Currently, I can only support someone who is coming with equity and equity demands that the NC produce Nigeria's next president since the NC has been short changed and schemed out time and time again.

Zoning means that all zones should equally share in Nigeria, and the NC zone is constantly left out in the cold although the NC has supported ever other region to become president.

The NE also has a rightful claim, but due to Atiku's VP position, they are slightly ahead of the NC and should support the NC. Many in the south are fighting themselves over Tinubu, the simple truth is that he is merely wasting his time. He is not going to receive the support in the North that those in his circle are telling him, they are merely accepting the gifts and money he is moving around. In time he will see this is the plain truth. Shehu Sani tried to warn him last week against those coming to Lagos to collect his money for their "support", which will likely stop the minute they fly back to the North with his "gifts."

Jagaban should be wise and throw his support behind a "friendly" Northerner who will work to ensure Northern votes while the SW will be in lock step with him, however due to his short sightedness he will single handedly cause his own downfall if he presents himself as the APC flag bearer.

The North knows that the south is disunited the and the SW is politically isolated as the SE and SS are not in agreement with SW presidency in 2023.

As such, the south has put the North is position to hold the high card due to their internal fighting. When the time is right, all will be revealed, forget the nonsense published in southern papers... the reality on ground is that the North is feeling shortchanged with the current administration, protests are actually erupting in various quarters, a sight seldom seen in this part of the country and the sentiment is that the North needs a President that will repair the damage of the last 6 years.

The NE and NC are greatly being considered by Northern power brokers, but my hope and prayer is that the NC will get the ticket in either APC or PDP.

Also, I don't mean to leave out the SE, it is not they that are not a part of the North's political calculation because they are, but now is not the time to entrust the region with the presidency for obvious reasons that I will leave unsaid. However, the VP position is thier's if they throw
their support behind the NC or even NE. The most viable route to the Presidency is the NC or NE President & SE VP, or even SS VP, but that will be a fight between the SS and SE regions, the fight in the North is between the NE and the NC. If Allah wills it, may the NC finally produce a president and help end this marginalization of being the "forgotten region."

So, please don't confuse me or the NC for particularly supporting Bello himself, we merely want justice and he is speaking our language.

But if any region should lay claim to the presidency, it is the SE because it is nobody’s fault that Buhari wasted northern opportunity by allowing his govt to be hijacked like you put it.

But due to obvious sentiments, the SE understands and might likely settle for the VP position. Just hoping Wike doesn’t scuttle that sha.

Meanwhile, as it presently stands, APC cannot field a northerner in 2023 or that would be its end. Because the SW will not vote for it (in protest), neither will the SE or SS vote for it. So APC has no choice but to come down south.

Interesting analysis. I agree in part, and disagree in part.

If APC fields a southerner, most likely it will be a SW politician.

APC is not strong enough in the SS and SE for one of them to take the ticket from TInubu without another faction within the party making it so, as such, it would be the North that would have to back a SS or SE candidate under the APC. At present, that will take some serious politicking and I don't see it happening.

Accordingly, if APC gives their ticket to the SW, the SE and the SS will be lost as they are not in lock step with the SW presidency project, as such, the SW will need the North to make up the shortage of votes.

The SW has a great deal of power within the party, but externally, the SW has very little power over the rest of the south, talk less of the entire North.

Moreover, if Tinubu is selected as the APC presidential flag bearer his religion will create a situation where it may become a political reality to have a Christian Northerner as VP, that in and of itself creates another problem for him.

Unfortunately, Christianity is seen as an outside religion in the North.. this is just the reality. Accordingly, a Tinubu presidential campaign will most likely have a Muslim as VP and Muslim as a Presidential candidate, this will further alienate the south. I as a Muslim personally have no problem with such a ticket, but the reality is that Christians are sensitive to such events as they are in a slight minority position in this country and religious balance is a big issue for them.

Many Northerners are of the mind that the SW has benefitted enough under this administration, and have already had the presidency, additionally the North is looking for a Northerner who will have the North's interest at heart as the North is the most chaotic and insecure as we have ever witness.

A politically savvy Northerner can use the fissures and divisions in the south to get the SS/SE block while having home field advantage in the North. This is something that the SS/SE politicians cannot guarantee as Presidential candidates. So if APC goes with the SW, it will spell their doom as PDP will go with a strong Northerner from the NC or NE, and then a VP from the SS or SE to clean up and politically isolate the SW to just their enclave of voters.

It is a chess move, where everyone wins. The NC or NE will finally get the Presidency, and the SE or SS will get the VP position to either make up for GEJ being ousted if the SS gets it, or to bring the SE back into the mainstream if the SE gets the VP position. It is a political victory on many fronts.

Forget all this talk about Tinubu this and that, the real battle is between the NC and NE for the Presidency and the SS and the SE for the vice presidency. This is where the real politics are playing out.

Reading through your analysis is exciting.

But from your analysis, 2023 tends to favour PDP returning to power. APC can’t do north without losing.

Aside the Southwest, no other region in the south can guarantee them votes no matter who the candidate is. I don’t need to remind you of the general sentiment towards APC in the SS and SE.

SW and Tinubu is boxed and isolated(to use your word). Worst case scenario, the north will abandon APC for them.

But let’s go particular a little bit, the most prominent politician from the North Central as of today is Saraki and he’s the next most likely person to get the APC ticket aside Atiku. But I have this feeling that the north won’t vote for Saraki because they don’t consider him northern enough. And I’m tempted to think that even the North Central won’t even be comfortable to have somebody from Kwara take their slot.

Somebody has invested and is still investing his time, money and resources in a party he co-founded with other key stakeholders and you're saying he should not contest in that party. So you people wants to reap where you did not sow so that you can boast in the future that you played and dribble them. Why not demand that PDP zone its ticket to southeast and plead with Atiku to jettison his ambition, but you won't do that, na Tinubu be your problem. See take it to the Bank, it can't work. Go and fight for ticket under APGA or PDP, period. Continue to attack Tinubu, the man no send you and does not even know if you exist.

In Nigeria perception can be a two way street, how you're perceived locally and then nationally.

For example, here in the North, Wike, Pete Odili and Rotimi Amaechi are all perceived as generally being "Igbo." Moreover, some Igbo from the SE may agree from a cultural standpoint that these men are in fact their brothers, but then these same Igbos from the SE would disagree that these people listed are "politically" Igbo...

Meaning that, If every Nigerian decided that 2023 is for "Igbo Presidency", most Igbo would not allow these men to take such a position although they are most certainly brothers at the least. Perception is key. For whatever reason, the Igbos in the SS are viewed as politically less Igbo than the Igbo in the SE.

Furthermore, politically, Kwara, Benue, and Kogi are all viewed as part of the greater "North," however these states are viewed as being more politically North, than culturally Northern. Plateau state is also a state with similar problems, Plateau is generally considered and viewed as the most Northern "southern" state, and this is partially due to the religious differences they have from the rest of the North. So yes, there is a perception issue these states grapple with being a part of the greater North and this affects them politically.

This problem in perception is yet to be truly mended and who knows if it will ever be truly mended, a large part of it has to do with the culture of those states and that they are at the fringes of what some would consider the traditional North.

So yes, the perception will haunt certain groups politically when they want to take positions reserved for certain regions. This is a large part as to why the NC has been politically under utilized when it comes to truly leading the North. Currently, the most culturally Northern state in NC is Niger state.

Niger state traditionally stands the best chance of being politically and culturally sellable to the greater North. These are just the political realities despite whether or not we see them as fair.

Forgive me, I’ve been restraining myself from saying this but I just have to say that you are too intelligent to be a northerner. Just wow!

And I don’t would be wrong if I were to guess that you are either a Masters Degree holder or you even hold a PhD. Your choice of words are just impeccable.

That said, you just mirrored the political realities of the country and confirmed my thinking all along.

Only someone from Niger State, to some extent Nasarawa,can garner votes from the core northern states and that’s why I’m not enthusiastic about Saraki. I wouldn’t be surprised if the north vote Tinubu over Saraki if the two were to bear the flag of their respective parties.

But these things you have just enunciated are reasons enough for the NC to want to chart it’s own political course away from the core north. Over the years they’ve only used you guys to add to numbers for their selfish political interest.

Lastly, please you are too intelligent to queue behind Yahaya Bello. Man is too inept for someone like you to accept him as the mouthpiece of the NC. There are more worthy people from that zone who can do the job and command respect from the rest of Nigerians. We consider Yahaya Bello a jester at worst. Reason you don’t see anyone talk about him or his inexistent ambition.

Direct Primaries is Tinubu’s brainchild and finds its greatest support base among Tinubu urchins.

Direct Primaries is the only way they hoped Tinubu would survive the power of northern oligarchs who are most likely to dictate the direction of northern voters if Indirect Primaries was to be used.

By God's grace if he becomes president, I will wish Tinubu help the Northern region to build many infrastructure as well, he should help them to build a world class dry port in either Kano or Kaduna which will employ many Northern Youths and the Northerns will be in charge of clearing goods for Niger Republic, Chad and the Sahel region, they will control their economy. We would kick Igbos off and encourage Northerners to get involved in in clearing goods in our ports for those countries sharing borders with the North. A business relationship and link with the Northern region is more profitable and better for we the Western that SE region. Only Kano and Kaduna economic is far bigger than all the South East region economic, igbos are just economic migrants all across Nigeria and we would formulate policies to get them to pay taxes heavily.
