The reason the us doesn’t officially recognize Taiwan is because China's official stance is that no nation may conduct official diplomatic relations with both China and Taiwan. They must choose one or the other. This is one of the major reasons that only 14 nations and the Holy See officially recognize Taiwan/RoC as an independent nation.

And no reasonable country would pick a small island with little or no impact over a country with influence and could pump money to their economy through trade or aid and borrowing (like in Africa’s case)
That’s why countries that officially recognize Taiwan are small and has little or no impact on the world scale

It happened here in Nigeria too . They asked Taiwan embassy to leave Abuja to Lagos and the angrily left Nigeria and China is here but can't give you visa .
Taiwan that is friendly and economic development is growing rapidly.
I tried to get their visa since I returned from China but since they left Abuja is really difficult to get now.
