You mean those with C of O did not pay for the land in the first place. If the Lagos State Government have to settle them, fine.

But people are just tired of paying for the same land two or three times.

It seems you or your father has a property in that place. There is no way he will not blame past government. He inherited liabilities created by the military government. That place is a GRA and most of the residents have C of O. Shangisha Landlords Association have no case with Magodo residents but with Lagos State. There is no any amicable settlement other than for Lagos State government to pay the Shangisha Landlord Association . What the Shangisha Landlord Association actually wanted is the normal thing that always happened under this scenario, that is for each Magodo GRA Resident in the affected plots to renegotiate and buy the land again from the Shangisha Landlord Association at the cost to be determined by the Shangisha Landlord Association. That is business. Magodo residents are aware of this, but who bears the cost? Each resident with C of O?

There are so many problems in Yoruba land. There are so many crisis. This is why majority of people and elites must support Emeritus Professor Akintoye.

Very beautiful houses worth millions have been built already on the said land. Innocent people have put in their hard earned money.
I fear some of these Estate developers o. You need to shine your eyes very well before they sell people plot give you.
The rightful owners will need to be given a new and possibly better land

Commendable is the word.
Out able governor,you are doing wanderfully well.Do the followings and have Peace in that Area.
- two wrongs cannot make a right
- as the First Citizen and a Father,you are to 'beg' or bend low-permit me to use the word because as a law abiding citizens,the Creditors are having the Supreme Court Order and they are brandishing it from time to time!
- Since those who purchased the place also did so with good intentions,we cannot just destroyed their lands now, especially as many lands there have been allocated,so 'Solomon Wisdom' should prevail!
-Assuming Badagry/ Lekki side is chosen for the 594 Plots( this is a Community no doubt)
-the Lagos-State Govt should as a matter of Urgency give Accelerated-Development to the chosen Area,in terms of Infrastructures (good roads,light ,Water etc) to attract people to the New Area and by so doing,the place becomes another Magodo in the making- just to avoid unpleasant ripples.
We should not play - Politics with this matter that torch Souls and update should also be given to the Public on timely basis to reduce tensions! It's part of Social Infrastructures Costs that must be incurred for peace to prevail.
Let Peace rein in Lagos State!

What should have been done is for the government to compensate the original owners handsomely or the new occupants handsomely to enable them to resettle because the government caused the whole developments

Festac is under the Federal Government of Nigeria's authority and jurisdiction. Lagos has zero powers in Festac. Magodo is not just under the authority and jurisdiction of the Lagos State Government, the problem they are facing was also caused by previous Lagos State Government.
