Good afternoon my amazing people.

Thank you for always providing us with helpful advice.

Please, I need advice about a water tank stand. I have power showers in my house and the plumber suggested that I should make the stand 14ft because of pressure.

When I contacted my welder he said it will cost me 280k to get it done. The issue is I don't plan to spend that huge amount on a storex stand.

When I asked around, some people said I should use the normal height and use a pressure pump.

Please, what do you suggest I do to cut cost and still achieve enough pressure and water stand durability.

Thanks

If you can answer this few questions it will help us to assist you.

1. What is the height of your house (don't include the roof)

2. Have you considered the kind of water lines you need for pressure pump, And can you afford it?

3. What is the monetry difference between the extra height and the pressure pump?

4. What material specifications are you considering ( like H channel, galvanized pipe, Timber or concrete stanchion)

5. What is the size of water storage tank do you wish suspend up there?

Thanks

Good day house,

After much deliberation a tank stanchion has been decided.

My welder quoted for a 40ft stand and the price sent shockwaves down my spine.

Please help look at the quote, I believe it can be achieved for less. And I know @michlins isn’t based in lagos, I would have contacted him for the job.

What is the height of your building excluding roof?

That's the fraudsters support system where they promote and support each other hustle through advertising and fake guarantee method of hyping each other. They have a backroom WhatsApp group that they use to plan their format and then unload them to unsuspecting people like you.

200 years? There's no black that won't fade a bit, longevity depends on the coating.

Although I've answered this in my Roofing thread bit the one thing that struck me here is that you want to use black and you don't want it to fade.

Just go straight to Tower Aluminum in Ikeja, Lagos.
They have black that will last longer than the others before fading. It's a bit pricey.

Tower Aluminum, First Aluminum, Sumo aluminium at Mangoro.. etc..

***Try to use 0.55mm and not 0.50mm.
***Avoid Metcoppo if you want peace of mind.
***Normal vorrugation of longspan preferred.

This your house looks like it's around Akingbile or Moniya axis?
the house is at IDO local govt area, along Ologuneru Eruwa road Ibadan.

please which COLOUR would you suggest I use that will last longer than Black ??

Other than faulty currugators ,another major problem of metcoppo is handling..loaders/carpenter's mishaps and mishandling.it requires extra care due to its extra sharp corners. Same with some steped tiles...

Consider the color you intend to paint your building. The most important thing is the coil's coating...ensure you get a colorcoat or colotek...Nut brown has been my favorite....these are available colors on towers website .

On a personal and functional note, I would suggest you go for any other colour that tickles your fancy so long as it is not Black.

Ibadan enjoys a humid tropical climate and Black absorbs heat. What this means is that your house will be extremely hot, unless you spend extra money to cool it via air-conditioning or through a design that dissipates heat within your roof, all the absorbed heat will end up in your rooms and will make your expensive building not very habitable or enjoyable.

Think twice on the colour and avoid the darkest colours.

This is so wrong (expensive). Don’t let anyone do this to you. 2x4 x 18 is about 1000. 2x 4 x 12 is even cheaper.
For the 2x 2, Worse come to worst, they can cut the 2x 4 into 2x 2 at the same sawmill for a small amount (around #50 for each) .
So you end up getting the 2x 2 for #550 each.
