It seems like you East Africans have a tunnel vision worldview.

Firstly, the same article you're bragging with ranked Lagos as no1 ahead of Nairobi.

Secondly, while Kenya has only two cities ranked, Nigeria has SEVEN!

It's ridiculous how you overlooked all that to push your Kenya/Nairobi supremacy. And lest I forget, that category is obviously for Africa and Middle East.

Thank you!

Exactly.

Kenya 114,000 barrels per day.
TZ 72,000 barrels per day,
Uganda 30,000 barrels per day.
-- in short Uganda refinery is just enough for domestic market - by time it's ready their fuel consumption would probably have doubled.
-- It would have made sense if they ditch export - and focus on regional market - there is probably 250,000 to 300,000 barrels market in the region.

South Africa 640,000.
Nigeria 428,000
Ghana 88,000
Cow dung
The world don't work that way. South Sudan,Congo DRC all are about to pump oil to Uganda to join it with Ugandan facilities. The 60,000 bpd is just a beginning of a big oil hub which is forming in Uganda.
Remember even TZ gas can be changed into oil if the market will be enough to consume all these Sudanese,DRC and Ugandan oil.

Dangote has serious competition in cement. BUA is also a big cement dealer in Nigeria and is now the second richest man in Nigeria. Dangote have always had competition in cement. If you've ACTUALLY read it and understood it srs questions remain: it's been 2 yrs since signing and nothing has happened.

Two years after President Muhammadu Buhari, the German Government and a German company, Siemens AG, inked a 25,000 megawatts (MW) Presidential Power Initiative (PPI), work is yet to take off at any power station under the phase one that ought to raise the electricity grid to 7,000MW by the end of this year.

Also
Recently, Nigerian author, Chimamanda Adichie, asked the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, on the Siemens-Nigeria Power project progress, at a public event in Germany.

Chimamanda and Chancellor Merkel were guests speakers at a panel held at the Düsseldorf's Schauspielhaus Theatre.

Responding to Adichie's question, the German leader said, "I will get back to you. You will get your answer."

A commercial German loan is meant to fund the project, hmmmm...at the same time I see no mention of what imo is the real issue - top to bottom replacement of extant transmission infrastructure ie, the cables, transformers, step up stations etc, etc.
As I said that's your real power problem.

BUA Cement is not as costly and now being heavily patronized. Last time I checked; nobody stopped the southerners from doing their thing in cement or food, just that most of our southerners (I am also a southerner by the way- South-South to be precise) love the importation business when it comes to stuff like that. Innoson motors from the South East as well as Air Peace flight CEO amongst others are also supported by the Government, so this monopoly argument is stale already.
Obasanjo supported Dangote to the latter because he was building his cement plants and at the time Nigeria was the second largest importer of cement in the world after the USA, and in my opinion, Obasanjo did the right thing then.

Kenya is a very brutal open market economy - companies face brutal competition - many die - because of stiff competition. This is not Nigeria where a few Northern Dangote elite uses Abuja to enact MONOPOLIES - and can never fail - even if they charge Nigeria an arm and a leg. See Dangote selling you cement at 4,200 Naira grin grin grin. for 50 bag of cement.

When Nakumatta/Tusky/etc died - all their places plus more were taken. Now Naivas is approaching 80 stores. Nakumatt at it apex was 64. Tusky nearly got to 70. We have many stores opening.Show me an empty stores that was previously occupied and has no takers :

FIX you monopolies, open up your economy and you'll be like kenya - THRIVING.

How do you explain Dangote getting interest at 12 percent - while a Nigerian is getting 30 percent?
How do you explain Dangote getting to buy dollars at 380 - while a Nigeria goes to black market to buy at 550 to a dollar?
How do you explain Dangote not paying taxes - but simply tarmacking the road using his cement - a road that serves him?
How do you explain import restriction - with exceptions granted to some connected Northern Nigeria - while rest of Nigerian have to smuggle everything from Benin and Camerooun.

After all this concession - Dangote sell your cement almost 3 times more than Kenya grin grin - he becomes a multi billionaire - the country overtakes India as the capital of poverty.

If you have a true open market liberalized economy like kenya - one mistake you're OUT - bankrupted by competitors - one strategic blunder - you're DEAD - you have to stay on your toes - sell at cheapest price while offering the best services -

How do you explain Dangote getting interest at 12 percent - while a Nigerian is getting 30 percent?
Can you provide me with links please of the 12% against 30%?

How do you explain Dangote getting to buy dollars at 380 - while a Nigeria goes to black market to buy at 550 to a dollar?
Because 380 (now 413) was the official rate and Dangote's refinery and cement project is also of utmost interest to federal Government.

How do you explain Dangote not paying taxes - but simply tarmacking the road using his cement - a road that serves him?
Oh that's a good thing and not just Dangote but Globacom and MTN also undertook some projects without paying tax or paying lesser tax.

How do you explain import restriction - with exceptions granted to some connected Northern Nigeria - while rest of Nigerian have to smuggle everything from Benin and Camerooun
Because it's those Northerners who are mostly interested in backward integration when it comes to certain basic products like food and cement. I repeat, nobody stopped anyone from taking advantage of Government's policy of backward integration. Innoson is now being supported by the Nigerian Government to build cars that run on gases. That is also a monopoly and monopoly has it's advantages and disadvantages similar to the Rockfellas of old USA.

The reason is that we have a law of at least 50% participation of locals and local firms when it comes to building projects in Nigeria. Angela Merkel also hinted at that in the interview with Chimamanda.
